March 27, 2017 6 PM Update

Good evening! Cloudy and 45 degrees in City of Albany. Calm wind. The skies will clear Wednesday around 5 am. As predicted the rain stopped and I think I’ll make it home in time to watch the PBS Newshour. That’s good because I got busy and never stopped to eat lunch.
The sun will set at 7:16 pm with dusk around 7:44 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. At sunset, look for cloudy conditions and 45 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Not good weather for going to the park at any rate.

Tonight will have isolated showers before 8pm. Patchy fog between 10pm and 1am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low of 39 degrees at 6am. Nine degrees above normal. Light southeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2016, it got down to 41 degrees with periods of rain. The record low of 3 occurred back in 1923.

New Moon tonight. The Full β€œPink” Moon is on Tuesday, April 11th. The sun will rise at 6:43 am with the first light at 6:15 am, which is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. Tonight will have 11 hours and 25 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain likely, mainly after 3pm. Areas of fog before 9am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high of 53 degrees at 2pm. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 48 at 1pm. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had rain and a high of 50 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1945. 14.2 inches of snow fell back in 1932.

I’m modestly concerned about the weather on Friday but if it is bad in the morning, I’ll take the bus and get Big Red in the evening. That might be the best route at any rate.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. Saturday, a chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, a chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 50. Still kind of stuck in this cold pattern. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 52 degrees.

In four weeks on April 24 the sun will be setting at 7:48 pm, which is 31 minutes and 56 seconds later then today. In 2016 on that day, we had partly sunny skies and temperatures between 58 and 35 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 62 and 40 degrees. The record high of 81 degrees was set back in 2001.

Looking ahead, Patriots Day is in 3 weeks, May Day is in 5 weeks and Memorial Day is in 9 weeks. I can’t wait for Black Fly Season. At least it beats winter.
