March 26, 2017 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Two weeks to Palm Sunday. Partly cloudy and 29 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. The skies will clear Wednesday around 6 am. I woke up this morning to very yellow skies with the sun, now gone filtering through the clouds to the north. Sleet to the south but it’s expected to change to rain by the time it reaches Albany.

Today will have a slight chance of freezing rain before 11am, then rain likely. Cloudy, with a high of 38 degrees at 4pm. 10 degrees below normal. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies and a high of 52 degrees. The record high of 74 was set in 1986. 6.1 inches of snow fell back in 1899.

The sun will set at 7:15 pm with dusk around 7:43 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 12 hours and 29 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain, mainly after midnight. Low of 36 degrees at 10pm. Six degrees above normal. Southeast wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 40 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. The record low of 11 occurred back in 1975.

Grocery shopping, truck washing and a few other things on the agenda for today. Nothing to exciting as I wait for the nicer weather to come around. I’m sure it can’t be more than a few weeks away. I think it’s going to be Apple cinnamon waffles this morning…. Hopefully they won’t be too sugary.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Palm Sunday when the sun will be setting at 7:31 pm with dusk at 8:00 pm. On that day in 2016, we had mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 46 and 27 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 55 degrees. We hit a record high of 77 back in 1991.
