Good evening! Currently some drizzle and 57 degrees with a 5 mph north-northeast wind. There is heavy rain everywhere but Albany. It’s nearly 11 PM and my windows are still open. I may close them before morning though as the mercury is expected to drop into the forties by morning, aka a few degrees above the average high for mid-March.

I skipped my evening walk, as I thought it could pour at any minute. I did go down to the library for a while and upload the January 2016 unemployment rate map that I am featuring this evening on the blog. I also figured walking down to the express bus stop got me close to where I need to be on my daily walking goals.

I watched the PBS special, Peter, Paul and Mary 50 years together. Kind of tragic when you think about the death of Mary Travers and all their music that I listened to them as a kid. Then I started watching some more of Gods1Marine bushcraft videos. Ever since I got that wireless keyboard, I much more like watching Internet videos that I’ve downloaded.

Tonight look for times of rain and drizzle, mainly before 3am. Patchy fog before midnight. Low around 45. Northwest wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. That’s about 21 degrees above normal.

Tonight will have 12 hours and 14 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over last night. Tomorrow the sun will rise at 6:11 am with the first light at 5:43 am, which is 1 minutes and 43 seconds earlier then today. Next Wednesday, for the first time this year we will have more daylight then daylight.

Earlier tonight we had a Waxing Cresent Moon with 13% illuminated. It set around 7:29 pm. Tomorrow the moon will be up until 8:19 pm. The First Quarter Moon is next Thursday and the March’s Full Worm Moon is on March 22nd.

Friday will be mostly cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 54. Northwest wind 13 to 15 mph. That’s about 12 degrees above normal. The record high of 70 degrees was set back in 1977. Still pretty nice, what you would expect for the second week of April rather than the second week of March. Followed by amazing weekend.

The average high in four weeks on Friday April 8th is 55 degrees, and the record for that date is 87 degrees was set back in 2010.

The mild weather was nice today and the rain will greatly reduce the fire risk, despite the warm and sunny conditions expected for the weekend.

All and all I think it was a good Thursday. Sleep well! Tomorrow is Friday. Plus we lose an hour this weekend with the coming time change.
