Little Falls

Little Falls is a city in Herkimer County, New York, United States. The population was 4,946 at the 2010 census.. The city is built on both sides of the Mohawk River, at a point at which rapids had impeded travel upriver. Transportation through the valley was improved by construction of the Erie Canal, completed in 1825 and connecting the Great Lakes with the Hudson River.

Heading down what remains of Old River Road in Little Falls. You can put a kayak in under the Theodore Wind Bridge, however there is no formal kayak launch, just a good place to put in near the sewage treatment plant.

Sometimes when I walk around the Potholers I have to think what they must have looked like originally with all the water flowing down them.

Beach At The Potholers

There is a sand/mud beach for parking canoes and kayaks below the Potholers, a good option for those not wanting to climb over Moss Island to see them.
