January 27, 2017 Evening

Happy Weekend! I really need the weekend because I’m so tired. It wasn’t a bad week but somehow it just dragged on by the end. I think it may have been all those cloudy days. Albany winters really are the pits with all the cold, cloudy and harsh weather. I don’t understand why anybody in their right mind would stay in such an inhospitable climate except for the taes and the welfare benefits they provide.

Mostly cloudy and 38 degrees in City of Albany. Breezy, 16 mph breeze from the west with gusts up to 30 mph. The skies will clear Sunday around 6 pm. Maybe. It next week is expected to be sunnier but even colder. And maybe some good snow for the second week of February?

New Moon tonight. The Full β€œSnow” Moon is on Saturday, February 11th. The sun will rise at 7:12 am with the first light at 6:42 am, which is 55 seconds earlier then yesterday. Tonight will have 14 hours and 8 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 16 seconds over last night.
Tonight will have some widely scattered snow showers, mainly before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 29 degrees at 5am. 14 degrees above normal. West wind 10 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. In 2016, it got down to 16 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. The record low of -16 occurred back in 2005.

In four weeks on February 24 the sun will be setting at 5:39 pm, which is 36 minutes later then tonight. In 2016 on that day, we had rain, snow, thunderstorm and temperatures between 44 and 32 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 37 and 19 degrees. The record high of 65 degrees was set back in 1985.

Looking ahead, St. Patrick’s Day is in 7 weeks, Good Friday is in 11 weeks, Arbor Day is in 13 weeks, Cinco de Mayo is in 14 weeks and Memorial Day Weekend is in 17 weeks. Just keep shoveling the shit and it will be here before you know it. Along with the black flies.
