January 26, 2018 Evening

Going home time. Happy Weekend! 😺😈🍺🍔Clear and 30 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. Traffic isn’t too bad tonight, the bus is running on time. Nice sunset over the mountains tonight. No complaints here.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low of 25 degrees at 5am. 🌃11 degrees above normal. Maximum wind chill around 23 at 6pm; South wind 7 to 10 mph. Almost balmy for late January. ♨ In 2017, we had light rain in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of -23 occurred back in 1994.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon with 75% illuminated. 🌖The moon will set tonight at 3:04 am. The Wolf Moon is on Tuesday night with mostly cloudy skies. The sun will rise at 7:14 am with the first light at 6:44 am, which is 53 seconds earlier than yesterday. Tonight will have 14 hours and 11 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 12 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have increasing clouds, with a high of 46 degrees at 2pm. β˜15 degrees above normal. South wind 11 to 15 mph. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 40 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 1974. 9.3 inches of snow fell back in 1963.

Looking ahead to Sunday, a slight chance of showers before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 45.β›… West wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Typical average high for the weekend is 31 degrees.

It was a pretty quiet and uneventful day at work. The calm before the storm I guess. ⚑At least the weekend is here. I have some library books to return tonight or tomorrow. 📚 Pine Bush hike tomorrow 9:30 at the Discovery Center, hopefully a few people will show up.👪🚵 Always a nice walk in the Pine Bush. If nobody shows up, I know I will be enjoying the beautiful weather going for a walk. Sunday is going to rain, I’m going to do stuff around the apartment. I do want to see if I can master the art of cutting plexiglass this weekend,🔅 once I get clamps to properly clamp things down.

The other day I was noticing some creepy Russian comments being posted on my blog along with strange activities in the logs looking like somebody is trying to hack into the blog. I guess it’s the troll bots, I guess I should increase security around who comments and make sure that the blog is secure.  While I do leave a lot unspoken on the blog,📺💻 I don’t like idea that a foreign country could be monitoring and taking detailed analysis on my every word, trying to gain some kind of insight from the various topics I blog about. Maybe it’s just my imagination and I have no reason to be paranoid. It just bothers me a bit.

In four weeks on February 23 the sun will be setting at 5:38 pm, which is 36 minutes and 25 seconds later then tonight. 🔆In 2017 on that day, we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 69 and 41 degrees. I hope we have nice warm weather like that this year, but I’m sure that’s unlikely. If we do I’m going to buy some Corona and drink it on the tailgate of my truck. 🍺 Typically, you have temperatures between 37 and 19 degrees. The record high of 69 degrees was set back in 2017.

Looking ahead, Ground Hog Day is in next Friday, Good Friday is in 9 weeks and Memorial Day Weekend Starts is in 17 weeks.

I tell you, I can’t wait until the nicer weather heading up to the Adirondacks after work. I like those warm summer evenings in the wilderness although I’ll be the first to admit they come and go faster than one would hope. 🌄But in the mean time it looks like cold returns for next week. The Ground Hog may call for an Early Spring but regardless it’s still at least six more weeks of winter.

I am thinking about my first big trip of the year. As I mentioned yesterday, I’m thinking about a North Country trip to see the sights of Franklin County and Massena. Maybe this year come back on down through the Black River Valley.β›Ί I haven’t seen the Northwestern Adirondacks in years although a lot of roads may be closed or impassable during mud season. 🌄We will see, a lot could change before April. I’m ready for a nice warm up with long nights though for sure!

🌻🍔Only 118 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!🍣🌻
