Republicans Get Their Revenge.
Years after Democrats attempting to discredit the president, Republicans get their chance to try to discredit Obama.
January 7, 2009.
An old rule in politics says that when your person is in power, you sit content and bask in the knowledge that voters love your candidate. When the other guy is in power, you call him stupid, his voters even dumber, that the voting machines where unfair, and you claim the election was rigged by the liberal or corporate (right-wing) media.
In 2000 and 2004 when the majority of voters, per the 50-state election system set out by the United States Constitution chose George Bush as their president, liberals quickly called fowl. They claimed that the elections where rigged, that voting machines failed in critical locations, that the media was biased, and that the whole system enshrined in the constitution was anti-democratic. In other words, they didn't get their way.
This year, in 2008, the voters under the same agreed upon rules chose Barack Obama for president. Conservatives where quick to point out the bias in the media, and how ignorant many Obama voters where to the issues of the day. A conservative blogger enumerates these thoughts at www.HowObamaGotElected.com. As the election cycle this year went so overwhelmingly, as presidential elections go, to Barack Obama arguments of voter fraud and an unfair system where difficult for Republicans t apply.
These tactics go on every election cycle. They are part of politics, and they are just plain disgusting. It is good to debate the issues facing our country at election time, and throughout the year be trying to sway our elected officials to do what we personally believe is the right thing to do. People need to learn to respect the president, regardless if they agree with all of his or her policies.
