Liking My Old Ford Truck.

I don't have to worry about scratching it up.
July 3, 2009.

I sometimes bitch and complain about having to spend money to maintain my truck. Most of the problems it has are either caused by my stupidity (like fucking the starter up) or are regular acquaintance items (tires and ball joints). Yet, I really do like this truck.

Owning an old truck means there is less of a reason to worry about body damage. If I bang up the bumper, then so be it. Run it through the brush, scratch up the sides -- who cares? I've already messed up the paint job pretty badly, and it certainly never was perfect when I bought it used 4 1/2 years ago.

This is kind of liberating. I can take my truck through the woods, and not care about the damage. Otherwise, if I had newer truck, I might give a dam about every scratch. The old truck doesn't make me have to worry about things. A little more damage, is not going to be noticable above and beyond what's already broken.

Playing in the mud is one of the major reasons for owning a truck. And not having to worry is such a great liberty.
