February 5, 2017 Morning

“No sun today,  the blue has gone away. In the words of the President Donald or maybe Alex Baldwin, SO Depressing. Snow and rain later. No accumulation, too warm. More blue skies for Monday and maybe in the fifties by Wednesday.”

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Five weeks to Daylight Savings Time. Cloudy and 29 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 10 mph. The skies will clear around 10 pm. Hopefully the change in clocks will be associated with nicer weather.

Today will have a chance of snow showers, mainly between noon and 3pm. Cloudy, with a high of 38 degrees at 2pm. Six degrees above normal. South wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies and a high of 41 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1890. 10.4 inches of snow fell back in 2014.

The sun will set at 5:15 pm with dusk around 5:44 pm, which is 1 minute and 19 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 10 hours and 11 minutes of daylight, an increase of 2 minutes and 30 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow showers before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 23 degrees at 6am. Six degrees above normal. Southwest wind 11 to 16 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2016, it got down to 19 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1948.

Tomorrow I may have to drive to work. Looks like a decent forecast but I hate driving in the city. We will see. The last bus leaves downtown at 11:30, so I should be okay but it still promises to be a long day.

Skiing at Partridge Run was a lot of fun. Excellent snow out there now. Nice packed hard base with about two inches of fluff up top. It was nice and quiet in the back all through I did cross the tracks of a small game hunter. Never saw anyone up there though. Roads are a bit icy up there though. Pretty driving down in Huntersland. Shit ton of deer by this one house down in the valley, I suspect a home owner was feeding them. A fed deer is a dead deer.

I have a lot to get done today, preferably mostly in the morning. I got to get groceries, get my taxes finished, bake dessert, put the final coat of paint on the refrigerator and upload photos and videos at the library. I also need to purchase an HDMI to VGA adapter so I can play the slideshow at the Save the Pine Dinner next month. Lots to do and that’s why I’m starting my shower shortly. Dishes are done.

As previously noted, there are 5 weeks until Daylight Savings Time when the sun will be setting at 6:59 pm with dusk at 7:27 pm (Daylight Savings Time). On that day in 2016, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 62 and 25 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 43 degrees. We hit a record high of 69 back in 2012.
