Burnt-Rossman State Forest

The 10,588 acre Burnt-Rossman Hills State Forest is the largest state forest in Schoharie County. This is a very popular state forest for hiking, camping and other outdoor activities.

A section of the aqua blazed, 350+ mile Long Path travels through the state forest. Along the Long Path is the Eminence Lean To, located about 0.5 miles east of Old Cemetery Road. The Long Path crosses Old Cemetery Road just south of an old cemetery.

There are several campsites along Betty Brook Road, and at Duck Pond on Burnt Hill Road.

Looking Glass Pond on Rossman Hill Road provides opportunities for fishing and boating on a small pond with fishing platforms maintained by the Fulton Fish and Game club.

Betty Brook Road, South of the Campsites

Betty Brook Road is a four-wheel drive trail located in the Burnt Rossman State Forest. While the northern and southern most portion of the road is in pretty good shape, a large portion of the road is just course shale track through the woods. It hasn't been mowed yet this year, so the grass is pretty high along the road, but it does look like the DEC has some gravel stockpiled in preparation for future repairs. This video plays at two times the normal speed (13 minutes of driving in 6 1/2 minutes of playtime).
