Federal Government Revenue Sources, by Percentage

Federal government since World War II has become more reliant on the income tax and social insurance and retirement taxes, rather then the corporate income tax for funding its purposes. This data was not avaliable on the new Trump OMB website, however it was on the old Obama site. For years after fiscal year 2016, these the numbers are estimates.

Data Source: Historical Tables, Table 2.2—Percentage Composition of Receipts by Source: 1934–2021.

Good afternoon! Partly clear and 17 degrees in Albany. There is a south breeze at 6 mph.

Tonight will snow, mainly after midnight. Low of 17 degrees at 6pm. Seven degrees below normal. South wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of around an inch possible. In 2015, it got down to 44 degrees with periods of fog and rain. The record low of -8 occurred back in 1942.

Waning Gibbous Moon tonight with 77% illuminated. The moon will rise around 6:25 pm. The Last Quarter Moon is on Tuesday night with mostly cloudy expected. The Full “Wolf” Moon is on Wednesday night.

Tomorrow will snow before 2pm, then snow and sleet likely between 2pm and 3pm, then a chance of rain and sleet after 3pm. High of 35 degrees at 5pm. One degree above normal. South wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. A year ago, we had fog, rain and a high of 52 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1984. 11.1 inches of snow fell back in 1970. The sun will rise at 7:19 am with the first light at 6:47 am, which is 39 seconds later then yesterday.

In four weeks on January 13 the sun will be setting at 4:45 pm, which is 22 minutes later then today. In 2016 on that day, we had snow and temperatures between 25 and 12 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 30 and 14 degrees. The record high of 71 degrees was set back in 1932.

2.9 inches of snow expected between Saturday 1:00 AM and Saturday 9:00 AM. Here is how I estimate it will pile up from this storm:

  • 1 inch – 4 AM
  • 2 inches – 8 AM

It will turn to rain by mid day, so I don’t expect the snow to last. We will see.

Looking ahead, Epiphany is in 3 weeks, Martin Luther King Day is in 2 months, Inauguration Day is in 5 weeks, St. Patrick’s Day is in 13 weeks, Good Friday is in 17 weeks, Easter is in 4 months, Arbor Day is in 19 weeks, Cinco de Mayo is in 20 weeks, Average High is 70 is in 5 months and Memorial Day Weekend is in 23 weeks.
