Erie County Population, 1970-2010

While Saratoga County has grown over subsequent decades, Erie County has seen a continued decline in population since the close of US Steel and other industrial businesses. The lost of population is most dramatic in the City of Buffalo and City of Tonawada, but at the same time, suburban towns in the vicinity have only grown slowly, and there has been a net loss in population in that county.
