August 4, 2017 Evening

Happy Weekend! Partly cloudy and 85 degrees in Albany. There is a south breeze at 15 mph. The dew point is 66 degrees. The muggy weather ends tomorrow around 7 pm.

Despite a few occasional big drops of rain, my walk down to Tri Centennial Park to catch the bus right before it got on the expressway was uneventful. Definitely a lot of clouds and what appears to be rain to points south and east – that rainbow I posted earlier was a pretty way to end the work week.

Smooth commute home, not a lot of traffic. Hopefully I won’t get soaked when I get off the bus. I think the chances of rain are high enough this evening that if I do go out, I’ll probably go to the library rather than the park. But first I’ll watch the PBS Newshour. I might just go to sleep after that, I’ve been tired with the heat and adjusting to the post vacation schedule.

No real plans for the weekend although depending how early it clears I might go tent camping somewhere locally. But honestly I don’t have much in plan for the weekend. I might look at replacing that broken kayak paddle though. I would like to be able to go kayaking next weekend if the weather allows. I’m not sure, the long range doesn’t look that great. I also need to get eclipse glasses before they get sold out.

The sun will set at 8:10 pm with dusk around 8:42 pm, which is one minute and 15 seconds earlier than yesterday. At sunset, look for partly cloudy conditions and 77 degrees. The dew point will be 67 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 10 mph.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon. The Full Moon is on Monday night with partly cloudy skies. The sun will rise at 5:51 am with the first light at 5:19 am, which is one minute and 3 seconds later than yesterday. Tonight will have 9 hours and 41 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 18 seconds over last night.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 71 degrees at 4am. 10 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 68 at 1am. South wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2016, we had partly cloudy skies. It got down to 66 degrees.
