Good evening! Light rain and 43 degrees in City of Albany. There is a south-southeast breeze at 13 mph. The skies will clear Saturday around noontime. Going to be quite a nice weekend, assuming that I get through the week first and I’m not stuck working.
Got stuck at work later then I expected today, so I ended up taking the last bus at 11:30 PM home again tonight. I’m glad buses run that late but I will be especially glad when Uber or Lyft become an alternative for the all nighters at work. $15 is a hell of a lot cheaper than getting my big jacked up truck into a wreck. But I guess that’s fine. I had to wait for about3 35 minutes in the office, but it’s just my luck. I guess I could have gotten a drink but I was tired and cheap. I just ended on putting on a podcast, which helped make the time go by quicker. The shut the decorative lights off at the Capitol at 11:30 and it was a bit scary waiting at the bus stop with some schizophrenic man about a block away screaming up a storm. I had no idea how long of a day it would turn out to be. Maybe I should have asked a colleague for a ride home but I didn’t want to be a burden. Tomorrow could be an even longer day, so I’ll probably end up driving up. This budget season has been so hellish this year. I don’t get involved in the fiscal or policy side of things but I can only imagine how difficult it has been for those folks.
Tonight will have a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 42 degrees at 5am. Eight degrees above normal. South wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 42 degrees with periods of rain. The record low of 13 occurred back in 1982.
Waxing Gibbous Moon tonight with 73% illuminated. The moon will set around 4:50 am. The Full “Pink” Moon is on Tuesday night with mostly cloudy skies expected and chance of t-storms. The sun will rise at 6:26 am with the first light at 5:57 am, which is one minute and 42 seconds earlier than yesterday. Tonight will have 10 hours and 57 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over last night.
Tomorrow will have showers likely, mainly after 11am. Cloudy, with a high of 49 degrees at 3pm. Six degrees below normal. South wind 8 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had rain and a high of 62 degrees. The record high of 87 was set in 2010. 3.2 inches of snow fell back in 1896.
If I make it through Friday it will be a nice weekend but chilly with the wind on Saturday. To start out the week, partly sunny, with a high near 50. Northwest wind 15 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 64. Maximum dew point of 41 at 9pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 55 degrees.
The whole Syria situation is rather scary. The United States does not need to get involved with nuclear war with Russia. Even a new Cold War with Russia would be pretty scary. I’m saddened over their Civil War in Syria and all war is morally wrong but we shouldn’t have necessarily gotten involved in there at least based on the information that I know. I’m not the president, and I’m sure he has further information then us in the general public but I do worry about Donald Trump’s past statements. But I’m a partisan Democrat, so I’m going to biased against the president. I just pray for peace.
In four weeks on May 4 the sun will be setting at 7:59 pm, which is 31 minutes and 48 seconds later then tonight. In 2016 on that day, we had rain and temperatures between 52 and 48 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 66 and 44 degrees. The record high of 91 degrees was set back in 1944.
Looking ahead, the Start of June is in 8 weeks and Election Day 2018 is in 18 months.
I’m off to bed. It’s only minutes until it’s Friday!
