April 3, 2017 9 AM Update

Good morning. As we head into the nine o’clock hour we are at 40 degrees under cloudy skies as the temperature heads up to sixty later. The latest models suggest that the rain will hold off but I’m prepared with my umbrella regardless of what happens.

The sun will set at 7:24 pm with dusk around 7:53 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 12 hours and 52 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain, mainly after 1am. Low of 44 degrees at 4am. 11 degrees above normal. Southeast wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Going to be a wet evening. In 2016, it got down to 18 degrees with periods of fog and snow. The record low of 14 occurred back in 1954.

Looking ahead, there are 2 weeks until Patriots Day when the sun will be setting at 7:40 pm with dusk at 8:10 pm. On that day in 2016, we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 76 and 36 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 59 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 2002.

Took a sleeping pill and retired to bed at nine o’clock. I thought last night it was going to be a long day at work today, but now I’m not as convinced that is going to be the case. It’s good to be well rested before another week of work. It was toasty in my bedroom at bedtime due to yesterday’s warmth but it has cooled down a lot overnight. Warm enough today I turned off the heat and left a window cracked for ventilation. Fresh air is always great and spring is late compared to last year.

More waffles for breakfast. I like all those fresh or frozen fruit I get for toppings and the whole grain Belgium  waffles I make at home. Fresh strawberries and frozen Maine blueberries this week for fruit. Fresh blueberries right now are too expensive. I don’t use syrup or cream on my waffles in an effort to make them as healthy as possible. I basically have waffles every day for breakfast. I’m sure I’ll get tired eventually and go back to having eggs but lately I’ve been tired of eggs.

It looks like the low voltage disconnect is doing its job. Not sure what the voltage is currently set at but I noticed it did automatically disconnect last night. Within 30 seconds of starting the truck the load was reconnected. I will have to hook up the control module so I can set the settings as in my testing it didn’t seem to disconnect right at 12.1 volts so it may be set lower from the factory. Today I’m going to order a spool of 8 guage wire and ring clips so I can finish the connections, relocate the inverter and run the new thicker wire back to the bed where the switch box will be located. I need more power to the truck cap with the increased lighting, USB chargers, and soon a 12 volt fan I will be installing back there.

Ideally I will finish wiring everything up this weekend. I don’t know if that will happen but I would like that so I can swap the accessory battery and so a dry run camping during Easter Weekend in the Adirondacks. If not it’s not the end of the world. With the propane lantern hooked up to the big gas tank I use the electric lights a lot less. The propane lantern uses almost no propane when hooked to the 20 lb tank.

This is all leading to my April 18th through the 23rd trip to the North Country. I’m hoping that the late state budget won’t mean I’ll be stuck in the office but it is starting to look this way.  I also need to do an oil change first but I think I’ll just pony up the cash and take it somewhere. It really ain’t worth my time and hassle between buying the oil and filter and getting all dirty. I’m not that broke all the time anymore. I want it to be a nice trip, and I’m hoping at least in Massena down by the river I’ll see some green and that I’ll be able catch some trout in the Deer River.

While I hope I won’t need additional work pants beyond the four I have this week hopefully, I’ve been looking at ordering some new pair online. I have four pair which are enough to wear once a week most weeks for work but one of them is nearly of not actually ten years old and is starting to show its wear. The other three are in good shape as work pants aren’t worn in the woods and don’t get beat to all shit.

Didn’t get out to my parents house for Sunday dinner, as I had no idea if I was going to be called into work. It definitely seemed likely based on some Twitter reports over the budget but it didn’t happen. Hopefully next weekend I’ll be able get out there.

I’m hoping things get done sooner than later as this late budget is a real drag on everything…
