April 21, 2017 Morning

Good morning! Cloudy and damp, around 50 degrees in Delmar. There is a south-southeast breeze at 13 mph.

Today will have showers likely, mainly before 8am. Cloudy, with a high of 56 degrees at 2pm. Five degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 48 at 2pm. South wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had rain and a high of 76 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 1923. 0.6 inches of snow fell back in 1947.

The sun will set at 7:45 pm with dusk around 8:14 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 13 hours and 42 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 41 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 44 degrees at 5am. Four degrees above normal. South wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 58 degrees with periods of rain. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1947.

Looking ahead, next Friday is Arbor Day when the sun will be setting at 7:52 pm with dusk at 8:23 pm. On that day in 2016, we had mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 58 and 35 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 64 degrees. We hit a record high of 92 back in 1990. Next weekend based on the long-range looks quite nice. I might go out to Schoharie County or maybe even out to Brookfield.

I didn’t get yesterday’s photos and videos uploaded because I’ve been having trouble with new laptop at the library WiFi when it comes to uploading content.  I may stop down at the library  before I leave for camping with my network cable to see if I can quickly upload that content.

Lots of rain last night but it held off for the most part until after 10 pm. I guess I could have gone camping yesterday but how was I supposed to know with the forecast. The truck cap somewhat leaks in heavy rain so it might have been damp by morning. This morning in the woods would have been pretty cold and wet.

The plan is go camping today through Sunday, including a hike at Moreau Lake State Park. Everything in the woods will be quite saturated from the rain but I think it will be fine camping. I want to check out the ledge at Moreau Lake overlooking the lake. I’ve never done that trail before. I’m also looking at hitting up one of the Adirondack creeks that the DEC stocks in April with trout, probably on Saturday.

Should be a nice weekend.
