April 1, 2017 Morning

Good morning! Happy April Fools Day. First Day of Trout Season but of course I’m stuck at work. Light rain and Light snow and 36 degrees in City of Albany. There is a north breeze at 9 mph. Good sky conditions for fishing but water levels are awful high. At least parking on the street is free downtown today, and I was able to find a parking spot downtown, not as close to my building as I would have wanted, but still only a half block away.

Today will rain and snow likely, becoming all rain after 11am. Generally a cold and wet day, with a high of 40 degrees at 3pm. 12 degrees below normal. North wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had rain and a high of 70 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 1986. 5 inches of snow fell back in 1924.

The sun will set at 7:21 pm with dusk around 7:50 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 12 hours and 46 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 33 degrees at 4am. One degree above normal. Northwest wind 3 to 5 mph. Clearing overnight, and Sunday is expected to be quite nice, but rather sunny for fishing. In 2016, it got down to 37 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. The record low of 17 occurred back in 1964.

Lucked out and caught the last bus home.Β I had already asked somebody to give me a ride home, and while I was walking out to his car, I spotted the last Route 18 bus to Delmar, and just hopped on it. At 11:45 PM, with the fast driver, we flew out to Delmar, I am pretty sure I was home by midnight. So hard to complain. I got eight hours of sleep and are now back in the office.

So it’s another day with lunch packed, and back to work.Β I bought a package of 5 Hour Energy drinks, because I’ll need the caffeine to stay awake, especially for the drive home this evening. I had plenty of coffee this morning which will help, but caffeine will wear off and I want to be awake for driving home this evening, especially if it’s after dark. The nice thing about the 5 Hour Energy is it’s concentrated, so I can get a caffeine jolt without taking a piss all morning long, which is especially good for road trips. It is expensive, but I only use it when necessary to keep alive while driving.

Tomorrow hopefully I will have the day off from work,Β and I can pick up the wires and crimp connectors so I can run the new power wire back to the truck cap. Going to see if Dad will let me borrow his power drill to make the hole through the grommet. Maybe go hiking for a while tomorrow — I doubt there will be enough snow for skiing, but I can at least enjoy some fresh air locally. I also need to get some silicone to plug up around where the wire will run into the cab, as I feel like that is a place where water otherwise could get splashed up into the cab, and that’s not cool.

Looking, there are 3 weeks until Earth Day when the sun will be setting at 7:45 pm with dusk at 8:15 pm. On that day in 2016, we had rain and temperatures between 76 and 58 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 61 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1985. We could have some nice weather for that weekend.
