Indian Lake, New York

Indian Lake is a town in Hamilton County, New York, United States. The population was 1,352 at the 2010 census. The name is from a large lake partly inside the town. There are no permanent stop lights in the town, much less the county.

Next year, the Cowsills song that made Indian Lake in the Adirondacks famous turns 50 years old. While most of the places referenced in this song are made up, the song's author, Tony Romano, stayed at Beeches Cottages on Indian Lake, which was the inspiration for the song.
