If we want to reduce gun violence๐Ÿ”ซ in our country, we should increase foot patrols of police in high crime neighborhoods,๐Ÿ‘ฎ install brighter street lights,๐Ÿ’ก spruce up bus stops and parks,๐Ÿš๐Ÿš plant more trees and flowers,๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒป reduce speed limits and lanes,๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš™๐Ÿš• encourage gardens and backyard chickens,๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ” host more street fairs and block parties,๐Ÿ‘ช๐Ÿ‘ฌ and encourage wealthier people to move to the troubled neighborhoods๐Ÿ‘ท๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿ‘ด to rehabilite old houses and generally gentrify them.๐Ÿก

Gentrification of bad neighborhoods is the only proven way to end gun violence.๐Ÿ ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿซ All other methods have little to no evidence of their effectiveness.

"Scarboroughโ€™s exceptionally narrow definition of Heller โ€” possess handguns at home for the purpose of protection โ€“ might be convenient for a political argument, itโ€™s misleading. The Heller decision found that the Second Amendment was an individual right to keep and bear arms for any โ€œlawful purpose,โ€ not merely home protection. It found that the Second Amendment โ€œguarantee[s] the individual right to possess and carry weapons in case of confrontation.โ€ (Italics mine.) And it specifically struck down a portion of a DC law that required rifles and shotguns be kept โ€œunloaded and disassembled or bound by a trigger lock.โ€

The Chicken Tax

Episode 632: The Chicken Tax

"German families in the 1960s loved tasty, cheap American-raised chicken that was suddenly coming in after the war. At the same time, Americans loved fun, cheap Volkswagen Beetles. This arrangement was too good to last."

February 17, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! Four weeks to Saint Patricks Day.🍀🍀🍀🍀 Mostly sunny and 31 degrees in City of Albany. 🌞Calm wind. Nice day for February!

🌼Only 31 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌻

Today will have increasing clouds, with a high of 36 degrees at 2pm.โ›…One degree above normal. Light south wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 34 degrees. โ˜The record high of 60 was set in 1981. 11.9 inches of snow fell back in 2003.

The sun will set at 5:30 pm with dusk around 5:58 pm, which is one minute and 18 seconds later than yesterday. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy conditions and 35 degrees. โ›…Five thirty sunset finally! There is hope for spring. There will be a south breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 42 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 45 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will snow likely, mainly before 2am. โ„โ˜โ„ Cloudy, with a low of 29 degrees at 5am. 11 degrees above normal. South wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. In 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies with some clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 18 degrees. The record low of -21 occurred back in 1973.

I soldered up a circuit board for the clock and quickly pulled out the USB connector. So I had to unsolder a bunch of things to fix it. 🔬That was kind of annoying. I’m not sure where I put the other break out boards for USB, as I have five of them with two now broken. The next one I install I’m going to pot carefully with hot glue so hopefully it remains in place.

Tomorrow if it’s relatively warm, I’m going to try to replace the ground connector on the truck cap so I have power to the cap once again. โ›บ🚘I’m hoping I have the enough loose wire that I don’t have to fully pull the ground wire and resolder an extension on the wire.

I am hoping to get out hiking tomorrow because both today and President’s Day, I expect to be busy. 🏃🏂Maybe going skiing but I doubt the snow from tonight  will last into the day tomorrow with things expected to warm up quickly tomorrow.

There is one month until Saint Patricks Day🍀🍀🍀🍀 when the sun will be setting at 7:04 pm with dusk at 7:32 pm (Daylight Savings Time). 🌆 Especially if we have some warm March weather this should be nice having the daylight in the evening. 📑I’m busy typically in March with work so I expect the month to go by quickly. 📆
