Yearly State Leasing Data

"In 2014, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation administered 79 leases on 44,464 acres of state land in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Erie, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, and Steuben Counties. There were 237 wells located on and/or unitized with state land associated with 65 of these leases paying production royalties."

"The 44,464 leased acres are unchanged from 2013."

"Revenues from oil and gas leases on state lands totaled $361,568 in 2014, a decrease of $41,072 from 2013. The decrease in leasing revenues paid to the state is attributed primarily to the drop in oil and natural gas prices during 2014. The average price of oil decreased from $98.45/bbl in 2013 to $94.75/bbl in 2014, while the average wellhead price of natural gas decreased from $3.52/mcf in 2013 to $3.34/mcf in 2014."

"Although nearly 59,000 acres of state land have been leased since 1999, only 37 (0.06%) of these acres have been disturbed by well drilling, access road and pipeline construction."

February 2017 High Temperatures

February 2017 saw weather in Albany was about normal, rising to fairly above normal by the second half of the month with temperatures breaking records, including a four day warm period when it was 57, 69, 74, 70 each day for the high. Then it crashes back down to 38, to be followed by some other early spring days.

While we got a inch or two of the dusty white stuff, it looks like on Wednesday we could get quite a bit more of the white stuff. ☃ I may have to think about moving my truck to it’s winter parking spot, 🚘 but I will keep an eye on the weather.🙄 I don’t like to move it unless I can run it for a bit, maybe it’s an excuse to run to the grocery store tonight or tomorrow, we will see. I don’t really need anything in supplies, AFAIK at this point.🛍

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Yeapers, I forgot to set my alarm clock. ⏰It’s unfortunate that I can’t sleep through winter like most of the groundhogs do but I need the money. Two weeks to Presidents Day.👹 Partly sunny and 22 degrees in Delmar. ⛅Breezy, 23 mph breeze from the west-northwest with gusts up to 34 mph. 💨💨The current wind chill is 6. Didn’t seem that cold at the bus stop but I’m sure the wind is blowing around downtown.

Only 43 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!

Today will be sunny, with a high of 25 degrees at 1pm. Five degrees below normal.☀  Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 37 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1890. 10.4 inches of snow fell back in 2014.❄

The sun will set at 5:15 pm with dusk around 5:44 pm, which is one minute and 19 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄At sunset, look for mostly clear conditions and 22 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 9. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 14 mph. 💨Today will have 10 hours and 11 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 30 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow showers after 1am. Increasing clouds, with a low of 16 degrees at 12am.☁ Typical for tonight. Maximum wind chill around 8 at 6pm; West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2017, we had light snow in the evening, remaining overcast into the early morning. It got down to 25 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1948.

The past few days, have not been the best luck for me. Mostly just stupid shit. 💩 I forgot to set my alarm clock, so I overslept by about 15 minutes. ⏰ I’m a slow riser so I always build a little time in my schedule. I’m well rested so that’s good. 🕤 I caught the usual bus that I catch on Mondays so that worked out. Yesterday I added a time chip to my LED light fixtures but ended up wiring or all backwards twice trying to figure out why it wasn’t working. I had to move around some of the control pins :idea:so I could access the serial line but when I did it I accidentally hooked things up to pins on the same timer as the irremote so I had to unsolder and resolder them. 🔬 Getting good on soldering though. And then I broke the plexiglass on the variable message display when I was pulling the max7219 modules to see why they weren’t working properly with the new Arduino Nano that will be permanently driving that. Among other failures. But I will repair things, and I’m getting good at soldering. Practice matters!

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Presidents Day when the sun will be setting at 5:33 pm with dusk at 6:01 pm.👹 On that day in 2017, we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 52 and 31 degrees.☀ I don’t remember it being that warm cross country skiing at Rensselaerville State Forest but I’m thinking Presidents Day fell on a different calendar day that year. 😮Typically, the high temperature is 36 degrees. We hit a record high of 66 back in 1981.
