So the $8 GPS Neo-6M sensor I bought and plan to start playing with tonight for my next project is accurate in providing your location within 2 meters or 6.5 feet. They also make a fair bit more expensive Precise Point Positioning (PPP) version that can locate your location often down to a few centimeters.

Back when Albert Eisenstein released his theory of relativity, I bet he would have never realized that he had found the answer to one of man’s great problems — where am I? It’s been less then 20 years since consumer GPS has even been a thing.

The Saranac Lakes Wild Forest (SLWF) is 79,000 acres of state land in Franklin and Essex Counties. It is situated near the communities of Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, and Lake Placid.

The unit offers many recreational opportunities, including but not limited to hiking, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, skiing, mountain biking, canoeing, hunting, and fishing. Popular hiking attractions include Scarface and Panther Mountains, Fernow Nature Trail, and the Lake Placid Peninsula Nature Trails.

Many people enjoy boating and camping on Upper, Middle and Lower Saranac Lakes.

So I’m researching car window tinting plastic as a cheaper, more flexible alternative to tinted plexiglass in one of my electronics projects.🔳🔲 I can only imagine the ads Google will start serving up to me now!😮

Good morning! Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie. 🎶🎤Today is the day when 59 years ago when the Big Bobber, Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly died in a plane crash ✈in Clear Lake, Iowa. 😰It’s Day the Music Died. Partly sunny and 15 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☀There is a south-southwest breeze at 9 mph. The current wind chill is -2. Cold.

🐣Only 45 days remain until the first day of calendar spring! There is hope that winter will come to an end.🐰

Today will be partly sunny, ☀with a high of 26 degrees at 4pm. Six degrees below normal. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies with more clouds in the afternoon. The high last year was 30 degrees.👕 The record high of 57 was set in 2016. 6.1 inches of snow fell back in 2004.

🚘”I started singing, bye bye Ms. American Pie. Drove the Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry.”🌅

The sun will set at 5:12 pm with dusk around 5:41 pm, which is one minute and 19 seconds later than yesterday.🌄  At sunset, look for partly cloudy conditions and 25 degrees. There will be a south-southwest breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 6 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 26 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of snow, mainly after 1am. ❄Cloudy, with a low of 22 degrees at 7pm. Seven degrees above normal. Maximum wind chill around 13 at 6pm; South wind 9 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2017, we had cloudy skies with some clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 17 degrees. The record low of -13 occurred back in 1978.

The box of inexpensive Arduino Namo microcontrollers I ordered yesterday is expected to be delivered in today’s mail. I’m quite excited about that as it will allow me to finish up my clock project and start future projects. 📟 Before I can use them though, I will need to solder on header pins but I’m not that concerned about that as header pins tend to be fairly easy to solder. I’ve been practicing with my soldering kits I got from China lately. 🔬I’m not a soldering expert, but I can it done. Honestly, I prefer to work with easily removable Dupont Wires but a lot of inexpensive devices from China don’t come with header pins pre-installed. But that’s not a big deal.

I’m going out hiking this afternoon, probably just to Thacher Park OSI Parcel, 🌲then out to my parents house for Sunday dinner today due to the bad weather expected tomorrow. I’m thinking about holding off going shopping🍲🌽🍚🍏 until tomorrow, ❄just because I don’t think the roads will be that bad midday tomorrow with the mercury expected to reach the mid 30s. In the evening though it will turn back to snow and ice.

There are seven months until Labor Day😎 when the sun will be setting at 7:25 pm with dusk at 7:54 pm (Daylight Savings Time).

Good and Bad Nationalism

"History teaches that one of the two faces of nationalism almost always predominates. A society with a lot of positive nationalism is more likely to be
tolerant and open toward the rest of the world because its people have learned the habits of good citizenship and social justice. Dictators and
demagogues, on the other hand, flourish where social capital is in short supply. People who feel little responsibility toward one another will turn
against minorities in their midst and outsiders across their borders, in return for promises of glory or comforting fictions of superiority.

"Negative nationalists prey most directly on people who are losing ground economically and socially. The recent resurgence of negative nationalism in
Austria, France, and Switzerland is especially evident among blue-collar manufacturing workers and young men who feel the economic ground
shifting from under them. The ugly violence against ethnic Chinese in Indonesia during the currency crisis there was also rooted in economic fears.
People whoe livelihoods are at risk find it reassuring to be given specific targets for their frustrations."

"Among economic insecurity's first scapegoats are always immigrants, foreigners, and ethnic minorities."

"A healthy dose of positive nationalism can ease these anxieties by softening the burdens of economic change. When they feel especially connected to
their compatriots, citizens who gain from change are more willing to support strong safety nets, employment programs, and educational systems that
help ease the burden on those who otherwise would fall far behind. And the generosity of the winners in turn allows the nation as a whole to better
accept the consequences of free trade, open capital markets, and more liberal immigration. But failure to choose positive nationalism almost surely
promotes its negative twin, because the losers are left vulnerable. "
