Good evening! Cloudy and 46 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 13 mph. ☁The skies will clear tomorrow around 5 am.

Tonight will be occasional showers, mainly before 4am. Low of 40 degrees at 6am.💧 22 degrees above normal. South wind 5 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2017, we had cloudy skies with some clearing in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 30 degrees. The record low of -16 occurred back in 2005.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon with 84% illuminated. 🌖The moon will set tonight at 4:13 am. The Blue Moon is on Tuesday night with mostly cloudy skies. The sun will rise at 7:13 am with the first light at 6:43 am, which is 54 seconds earlier than yesterday. Tonight will have 14 hours and 9 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 15 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny, with a high of 44 degrees at 12pm. Not quite as warm as today but still 13 degrees above normal. 🌞West wind 3 to 5 mph. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies. The high last year was 37 degrees. The record high of 56 was set in 1916. 9.6 inches of snow fell back in 1897.

The Pine Bush Hike today was fun and the new trail across the Kings Road Barrens is quite nice.😺 Cuts through some spectacularly beautiful Pine Bush and then up and over one of the esckers. I went out hiking first with Save the Pine Bush then out hiking some more by myself. 👬

Then I went down to the library for a while and then came back home. I had dinner and went to Lowes and bought some clamps and started working on scoring and breaking the plexiglass to size.📏 It came out decently well although no piece broke perfectly so I have had to do some sanding and minor trimming by score and break.📐 I am not going to use the acrylic weld at this point because I don’t think the pieces will fit together tight enough.🔲 I may instead use either superglue or hot glue to join the pieces. Not quite as durable or perfect looking but at least it won’t have the dangerous fumes. Honestly if the case doesn’t look perfect at close inspection,🆗 I’ll chock it up to being my first case I’ve built using this method. It will look much nicer than the paperboard case it’s currently in. The glowing screen and LED lights in the background should be ample enough of a distraction that it won’t even really be noticeable.

I am hoping to build much of the box tomorrow, assuming that I can find the superglue and get things a bit closer to plane. I’ve decided to also add an hour chime to the cost clock using a buzzer I have laying around. I often lose track of time and this will make it easier to keep track. I do need to still order the much smaller Arduino Nano which will power the project in its final form.

In four weeks on February 24 the sun will be setting at 5:39 pm, which is 36 minutes and 22 seconds later then tonight. 🌇In 2017 on that day, we had rain, patches of fog, partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 74 and 41 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 37 and 19 degrees. The record high of 74 degrees was set back in 2017.

Looking ahead, The Day the Music Died is in 1 weeks.

🌄Only 117 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!🌄

I love Bernie Sanders but we really need a president under 65, preferably closer to 35 like Obama. Our country needs fresh ideas, new thinking - not ideas from the era of the Vietnam War. I understand people want experience but at some point people should retire and enjoy their final years in leisure and let the younger generation take over.

The Albany County Legislature turns 50 – Albany County Legis. – Medium

I think county government is a waste of money, not worth celebrating.

I would rather see the state take over all county functions. Most local governments just implement existing state laws. Local governing should be non political, there is really no need for elected officials on the local level. Politicans don't pave roads or repair street lights, government employees who couls efficiently work for the state do.

I know I won't be celebrating 50 years of the county legislature. We would save so much money if all local government was eliminated.
