Work Is Different Now

Rise Of The Contract Workers: Work Is Different Now

"A new NPR/Marist poll finds that 1 in 5 jobs in America is made up of workers under contract. Within a decade, contractors and freelancers could make up half of the American workforce. Workers across all industries and at all professional levels will be touched by the movement toward independent work โ€” one without the constraints, or benefits, of full-time employment. Policymakers are just starting to talk about the implications."

January 22, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Happy Monday on this National Hot Sauce Day. Next Monday is My 35th Birthday. Cloudy with mist and 36 degrees in Delmar, NY.โ˜ There is a east-northeast breeze at 5 mph.  The next few days are expected to be fairly wet. The skies will clear Wednesday around 6 am. January showers bring…. Well at least lower heating bills. And don’t forget….

🌸Only 57 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌺

While it’s rather wet and rainy today,โ˜” watch out for the black ice. Heading on the way down to the driveway to the bus, I almost slip and fell. Caught my balance fortunately. The bus was running a bit late so I had time.🚍 Which is good because traffic was heavy this morning so I had difficulty crossing the road. To top it off I have a bit of a migraine and my sinuses are plugged probably from breathing in all that smoke camping. It was though a nice weekend.

Today will have light rain likely, mainly after 4pm.โ˜”   Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high of 44 degrees at 3pm. 14 degrees above normal. Northeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mist in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 43 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 1906. 12.9 inches of snow fell back in 1987.

The sun will set at 4:56 pm with dusk around 5:27 pm, which is one minute and 16 seconds later than yesterday. At sunset, look for light rain and conditions and 43 degrees. There will be a east-southeast breeze at 6 mph.🌅 Today will have 9 hours and 39 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and one second over yesterday.🌂

Tonight will be light rain likely, mainly after 4am. Patchy fog before 8pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low of 37 degrees at 8pm. โ˜”23 degrees above normal. South wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2017, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 32 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1970.

It was nice getting away and going camping on Cole Hill State Forest this past weekend, โ›บalthough it seems that it made the weekend go quickly. I also got my hair cut. 👦But I didn’t have much time to work on various electronics projects.🔌 I did but some plexiglass, scoring tool, metal ruler, and ordered acrylic welding solution so I can start building some electronic enclosures using 2 mm acrylic sheet. If this works, I’ll probably get some colored or tinted acrylic for future projects, especially in front of the LED Matrix to better defuse the light. 📟

As  previously noted, next Monday is My 35th Birthday🎂😮 when the sun will be setting at 5:05 pm with dusk at 5:35 pm. On that day in 2017, we had snow, mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 40 and 25 degrees. โ˜Typically, the high temperature is 31 degrees. We hit a record high of 54 back in 2002.

;)Have a great day! ๐Ÿ˜‰
