 Almost Over For The Day

October 10, 2017 8 AM Update

Good morning! Mostly blue skies and 65 degrees on our way up to 74. Going to be a pretty nice autumn day with only a touch of humidity. That’s good because I just got done last night scrubbing down the mildew last night  that seemed to pop up overnight due to the hot and humid October weather.

I was running a bit late this morning so I decided to take the local bus to work, which was running about 15 minutes late. So much for getting into the office early this morning. That’s fine, I don’t expect too hectic of a week today.

The sun will set at 6:20 pm with dusk around 6:48 pm, which is one minute and 41 seconds earlier than yesterday. At sunset, look for mostly clear conditions and 70 degrees. The dew point will be 57 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 9 mph. Should be a pleasant evening even if it is dark at 6:20. Today will have 11 hours and 16 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 50 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low of 53 degrees at 5am. 12 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 57 at 6pm. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. In 2016, we had clear skies. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of 22 occurred back in 1943.

It looks like a good weekend is coming up, but I am going to hold off on any decisions until it gets a little closer. Sometimes it better just to take things one day at a time. Things change too quickly around here lately.

By the end of the month or early November I need to get a state inspection and an oil change. Probably also will get my tires rotated too. I almost want to postpone this until November as it would be a lot easier to do it going forward. My oil change might be a little early but I’m not going to do it myself anymore because I always have trouble getting lose the filter and finding the right synthetic oil.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Election Day 2017 when the sun will be setting at 4:40 pm with dusk at 5:09 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2016, we had mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 53 and 28 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 51 degrees. We hit a record high of 75 back in 1938.

October 10, 2017 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Four weeks to Election Day 2017. Vote early, vote often unless of course your a Trump supporter. Partly clear with the sun still below the tree line and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west-northwest breeze at 7 mph. The dew point is 55 degrees.

Today will be mostly sunny, with a high of 74 degrees at 3pm. 12 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 60 at 11am. Pretty mild, modestly humid. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 1939. 0.8 inches of snow fell back in 1925.

Going to be a fairly nice day out there. Get out and enjoy it.
