September 7, 2017 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 59 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a southwest breeze at 5 mph. Big Waning Gibbous out there to the east. The dew point is 50 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around noontime.

I walked about five miles around town today. I could have taken bus a few times but walking is healthier. I’ve gotten out of the habit of the evening walk so I’ve been trying to do more walking lately.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers before 11pm, then isolated showers after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 52 degrees at 6am. Four degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 50 at 10pm. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2016, we had mostly clear skies. It was humid. It got down to 65 degrees. The record low of 34 occurred back in 1978.

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon with 90% illuminatedThe moon will set tomorrow at 9:56 am. The Last Quarter Moon is on Tuesday night with a chance of showers. The Hunter Moon is in 4 weeks. The sun will rise at 6:27 am with the first light at 5:59 am, which is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. Tonight will have 11 hours and 10 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. Cloudy, with a high of 65 degrees at 6pm. Eight degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 52 at 2pm. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was humid. The high last year was 89 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 2015.

The weekend forecast continues to look fairly decent. Saturday, a slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 65. North wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Maximum dew point of 50 at 10am. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 69. Maximum dew point of 51 at 7pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 75 degrees.

My plan for the weekend is to hook up the new relay for the CB radio and dash camera and do some kayak fishing on Thompsons Lake I think. This weekend I am not planning on heading out of town. Been out of town too much lately and just want to relax a bit.

In four weeks on October 5 the sun will be setting at 6:28 pm, which is 49 minutes and 30 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2016 on that day, we had heavy fog, fog, shallow fog, patches of fog, mist, mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 72 and 45 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 64 and 43 degrees. The record high of 91 degrees was set back in 1941.

Looking ahead, Average High is 70 is in 2 weeks, Hunter’s Moon is in 4 weeks, Election Day 2017 is in 2 months and Thanksgiving is in 11 weeks.

September 7, 2017 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Two weeks to Average High is 70. Temperature drops quickly at the first day of autumn approaches.ย Mostly cloudy and 60 degrees in Albany. Calm wind. The dew point is 55 degrees. The skies will clear around 4 pm.

Today will have scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high of 70 degrees at 3pm. Six degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 58 at 11am. Light southwest wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was humid. The high last year was 86 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1945.

The sun will set at 7:18 pm with dusk around 7:46 pm, which is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. At sunset, look for partly cloudy conditions and 64 degrees. The dew point will be 52 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 50 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 50 degrees at 5am. Five degrees below normal. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph. In 2016, we had mostly clear skies. It was humid. It got down to 65 degrees. The record low of 34 occurred back in 1978.

I was running a bit late for the express bus, but I made up time by walking quickly and was there in plenty of time. ย Like most of the buses with the heavier traffic from the school year getting underway, it was running a few minutes late. Big articulated bus again today. Apparently they run the 12 bus then do the 8:27 Route 719 run on Thursday. It works, but it’s a rather big bus for so few passengers.

Walking so quickly to the express bus made it feel a bit humid,ย but then again everything is a bit wet from last night. I am trying to get up earlier, walk more, because I’ve fallen behind on doing that a bit lately, and sometimes find myself to a bit sore at times. I should also make it a priority to get out and walk more at lunch time.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average High is 70 when the sun will be setting at 6:53 pm with dusk at 7:21 pm. On that day in 2016, we had mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 80 and 58 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 70 degrees. We hit a record high of 95 back in 1895.

The Real Reason the U.S. Has Employer-Sponsored Health Insurance

"The basic structure of the American health care system, in which most people have private insurance through their jobs, might seem historically inevitable, consistent with the capitalistic, individualist ethos of the nation."

"In truth, it was hardly preordained. In fact, the system is largely a result of one event, World War II, and the wage freezes and tax policy that emerged because of it. Unfortunately, what made sense then may not make as much right now."
