September 2016 High Temperatures

Last year definitely was much warmer then this year to start out the month. Today, September 6th will struggle to get above about 62 degrees in Albany, while last year it was 85 degrees by afternoon. September 8, 2016 was 89 degrees in Albany. Things might change though, although for now the 6-10 day outlook and the 8-14 day outlook are saying continued cool and wet.

Rain and sixty three degrees this morning as school gets underway for the rest of the youngens. The bus was running like 15 minutes, for a while I had thought I had missed the earlier bus but no, it just was the buses were delayed by school traffic and probably the wet weather to an extent. At least the rain is expected to clear out for the weekend, although certainly we aren’t in a drought after last Sunday. And who knows how wet we will get come Hurricane Irma.

The sun will set at 7:20 pm with dusk around 7:48 pm, which is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. At sunset, look for rain and 60 degrees. The dew point will be 57 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 12 hours and 53 minutes of daytime, an decrease of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers likely, mainly before 4am. Cloudy, with a low of 54 degrees at 5am. One degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 57 at 7pm. Light northwest wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2016, we had partly cloudy skies. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 63 degrees. The record low of 36 occurred back in 1962.

Last night I returned a bunch of cans and bottles to Hannaford. I got like $4.05 in deposits back and emptied two thirds of one of those big trash barrels by my apartment. I guess I haven’t brought back cans back in a long time and drunk a few beers up at camp. Between returning the cans, burning the burnables at camp, I should be able to avoid going to the transfer station for a while.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until 6:30 PM Sunset when the sun will be setting at 6:30 pm with dusk at 6:58 pm. On that day in 2016, we had cloudy skies and temperatures between 69 and 53 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 65 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1891. The mercury drops quickly come autumn. I will probably head up to Moose River Plains that weekend but it depends on the weather. Fall foliage may be early this year due to the cool weather we’ve had over the past few weeks.

Stay dry and hopefully the cool but sunny forecast for the weekend will remain true.

Good morning! Today is a rather wet Hump Day. I guess better today than the weekend, which looks fairly sunny but cool. Right now, rain and 59 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north-northwest breeze at 6 mph. The dew point is 56 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 3 pm.

Today will rain before noon, then showers likely after noon. High of 64 degrees at 2pm. 12 degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 56 at 7am. North wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies with more clouds in the afternoon. It became humid as the day progressed. The high last year was 85 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1983.
