June 18, 2017 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 74 degrees in Dormansville. Earlier there was a breeze, but now the only breeze is the fan in my truck cap. The dew point is 71 degrees. Definately a warm and sticky night. Bugs are out and bitting too, so I’m holed up in my truck cap, enjoying the cool breeze of the fan at my parents house. The skies will clear Tuesday around 9 am.

As you can see, I had a lot of fun at the Gas Up Antique Machine Festival in Gallupville. Definately a fun event, I had a lot of fun going with my grandfather 25 years ago, and I had a lot of fun going again this year. The ice cream made by the old blackstone hot bulb engine was pretty neat, as was all the exhibits. Most of them were the same from years past but it’s always a treat to see the raw power of the farm and heavy equipment of an earlier era.

I got Dad’s weather station up and running on Fathers Day. I got it for his birthday, but with his health issues, we weren’t able to get it mounted and up and running until today. But it’s kind of neat to have detailed weather data for their house and be able to keep an eye for severe weather.

Ordered the Coleman Cooking Oven that I read about online.Β Hopefully it will be lightweight but work well on top of my camp stove for making things like biscuits and corn bread. That should make many good camping meals, or so I hope. As I expect to work late, I am not having it shipped to my house but somewhere else, so I don’t have to go looking for it at midnight or whenever I get home from work next week.

Tonight will have showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 2am and 3am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 72 degrees at 5am. 14 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 70 at 10pm. South wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2016, it got down to 59 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1950.

Waning Crescent Moon tonight with 37% illuminated. The moon will rise around 1:23 am. The New Moon is on Saturday night with mostly cloudy expected. The Full β€œBuck” Moon is in 3 weeks. The sun will rise at 5:18 am with the first light at 4:43 am, which is 9 seconds later than yesterday. Tonight will have 8 hours and 40 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 8 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. High of 79 degrees at 12pm. Typical for Tomorrow. Maximum dew point of 71 at 10am. Southwest wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies and a high of 91 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1995.

The long range is mixed for next weekend. Might be okay, but we have to watch for thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. Next Saturday, a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 62 at 6am. Next Sunday, a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 75. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Maximum dew point of 59 at 4pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 80 degrees. That low humidity would certainly be nice but it seems like thunderstorms are a definite possibility.

In four weeks on July 16 the sun will be setting at 8:32 pm, which is 6 minutes and 4 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2016 on that day, we had rain, mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 83 and 64 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 83 and 62 degrees. The record high of 97 degrees was set back in 1900.

Looking ahead, Buck Moon is in 3 weeks, National Cheese Cake Day is in 6 weeks, 7 PM Sunset is in 13 weeks, Average High is 60 is in 17 weeks, Daylight Savings Time Ends is in 20 weeks, Cold Moon is in 24 weeks and New Years Eve is in 28 weeks.

Sleep well. I hope your enjoying this muggy weather!

Waiting For Ice Cream

It was pretty good ice cream, but it was a bit soft and lumpy because by the time I got some they were at the bottom of the churn and it was a very hot day.
