How Dangerous is Ammunition in a House Fire?

How Dangerous is Ammunition in a House Fire?

"Darren Stewart, a Fire Specialist with CAL FIRE, explains in the story that without a gun wrapped around it, there’s nothing to contain and direct the pressures created by the propellant in a cartridge igniting, and that the popping noise people hear when ammunition is burning is not the bullet flying away from the casing with any force--regardless of what you may have seen in the movies."

June 1, 2017 9 AM Update

Today, June 1st seems like a pleasant day with temperatures around 67 degrees under partly to mostly sunny skies, with mercury creeping up a handful of degrees to 72 later.Β It will get breezy later, with aΒ west wind increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the morning.

It definitely seems like June and summerΒ now that calendar reflects it. Okay, maybe a bit cool. A bit of fog around but it’s been weeks now that the windows are open. We’ve avoided the hottest weather so far except for that one or two days.

They were chopping hay – first cutting of the year – at the farm down the road, and it just smelled amazing, Fresh first cut hay is one of those great smells of springtime.

Weather wiseΒ today should be quite nice, once those clouds burn off. I just wish I had brought my camera to work yesterday to get pictures of the rainbow over the capitol and the pretty crazy thunderstorm that we got. Maybe I’ll remember to pack it today.

The sun will set at 8:27 pm with dusk around 9:01 pm, which is 46 seconds later than yesterday. At sunset, look for partly clear conditions and 63 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 14 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 7 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 14 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low of 48 degrees at 4am. Seven degrees below normal. West wind 9 to 14 mph becoming light after midnight. In 2016, it got down to 64 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. The record low of 39 occurred back in 1971.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Average High is 80 when the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm with dusk at 9:12 pm. On that day in 2016, we had rain, partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 77 and 52 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 80 degrees. We hit a record high of 95 back in 1954.

Yesterday I went to the store and washed my truck. I must admit it’s much more pleasant to wash the truck when it’s 75 degrees in the evening then when it’s 15 degrees and the wind is whipping around. Bought some more waffle mix, blueberries and honey because my honey jar accidentally got left in the cooler, got water in it and went bad.

Then I went for my evening walk and enjoyed the nice evening out back. Started to rain a bit around 10 pm, so I headed back in. Worked on some blog posts and got some milk so I would have it for breakfast. Happy Dairy Month. It’s amazing how much cheaper milk is at Stewart’s compared to the grocery store. Based on the amount of milk I drink, I probably save over $40 a year by getting my milk from Stewart’s, maybe even more with the milk card.

I was saddened to see the president will be pulling out of the Paris Accords, but I guess that’s to be expected from the the TRUMP.Β What a buffoon, wanting to pretend we live in an era that we don’t live in. We really should do something, or at least pretend to be doing something about climate change, and developing the solutions for tomorrow. At least Massachussets is retiring that big old coal plant.

Of course it won’t be really summer until I camp at Powley Place and spend a 90 degree day in the potholers. I’m sure those days will be here before you know it. I have certainly camped up there in early June in the past but I don’t think I will get there until later this month or maybe sometime in July. It’s just my schedule.

Still want to get another switch for the light I’m going to mount under the back seat of my truck,Β so I can find things when camping. I have the lights already in my toolbox ready to use, but I need a switch. I thought about going there last night to pick them up, but it didn’t happen. Maybe today at lunch time today. It depends how busy you are …

Have a great day. Tomorrow is Friday!

June 1, 2017 Morning

Good morning! Today is June 1st. Three weeks to the Average High is 80. You don’t get much more summer than that. Partly sunny and 56 degrees in Delmar. Calm wind. The dew point is 52 degrees.

Otherwise, cloudy through mid morning, then becoming mostly sunny, with a high of 73 degrees at 3pm. Fairly typical for today. Maximum dew point of 53 at 7am. Breezy, with a light west wind increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies and a high of 85 degrees.
