April 20, 2017 Morning

Good norning! Happy Thursday as I continue to enjoy my staycation. Six weeks to the Start of June. I can’t wait until the hot weather and nicer days. Cloudy, damp and 49 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. It looks like it’s currently rather cold and foggy up north. I’m glad I’m home.

Today will be mostly cloudy, with a high of 65 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal. Very gray this morning. Maybe more sun later? Then rain tonight.  Calm wind becoming north 5 to 7 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies and a high of 62 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1941. 5.8 inches of snow fell back in 1961.

I need to get milk at Stewart’s and make myself up a nice pan of eggs for breakfast. I’ve had a bit too many of them lately but I’ve taken a break and I think I will enjoy them again. Eggs are really my favorite camp food as they provide all day energy I need. I might have them again this weekend at camp.

Today I’ll probably stay home and stay maybe go fishing somewhere. I’ll have a nice breakfast and a relaxing day, go down to the library to further update my blog. I want to get some books out of the library so I can read by the campfire when I head out of town tomorrow. Even though I’m at home, vacation is rather nice.

I am thinking about heading up to the Southern Adirondacks to camp, fish, shoot guns and hang out in the wilderness on Friday through Sunday. I like the quiet of being in the woods and being able to sit and read. I’m also thinking about  going on a short hike somewhere but it has to be relatively dry location as the woods will be muddy from all the rain. Where I’m thinking about camping is well drained and gravel packed, so I’m not worried about the mud. If it’s too bad even there, I’ll just turn it into a day trip or carry my gear back to the site. But I don’t think it will be a problem.

The sun will set at 7:43 pm with dusk around 8:13 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 13 hours and 39 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 42 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, then rain and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Low of 51 degrees at 5am. 12 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 48 at 1am. Northeast wind 6 to 15 mph becoming southeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 32 degrees with periods of rain. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1875.

I hooked up this small $15 amplifier I bought for the $6 PA speaker I bought last year for my truck the output still isn’t very loud. I haven’t decided if I want to spend anymore money on the project – if I do, I’ll probably just go for a real amplified speaker but it’s really down there on the priority list. The PA speaker is mostly for pranking bros I might meet up in the woods.

Looking ahead, there are 6 weeks until Start of June when the sun will be setting at 8:27 pm with dusk at 9:01 pm. Those long nights make going down to park nice. On that day in 2016, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 85 and 57 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 74 degrees. We hit a record high of 94 back in 1918.
