Just kind of hanging out and relaxing this morning. I had a nice breakfast and a little later on I will probably go out fishing. That wind is making kinda cold but at least we have some sun peaking out to the south. Might stop down at the library and decide which 12 volt fan to order so I have it to keep cool in my truck cap. I do need to get some night crawlers and get to the store today for shopping. I’m low on food because I was planning on going shopping before camping. Pine Bush Dinner is tonight.

The sun will set at 7:42 pm with dusk around 8:12 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 13 hours and 37 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 42 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, with a low of 46 degrees at 4am. Seven degrees above normal. South wind 11 to 16 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 42 degrees under mostly clear skies. The record low of 19 occurred back in 1875.

I am thinking about heading out camping on Friday morning, based on the latest forecast. I don’t expect a ton of sun this weekend but I haven’t been out in a long time. After Thursday into Friday, not expecting a big washout. Next weekend looks quite nice but I might consider going camping somewhere else like Schoharie County that weekend.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Pack Rat Day when the sun will be setting at 8:13 pm with dusk at 8:46 pm. On that day in 2016, we had mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 66 and 40 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 70 degrees. We hit a record high of 89 back in 1977.

Cameron Pond Day Use Area is near the center of the forest and provides day use and fishing opportunities. Fishing occurs during both winter and summer seasons. Cameron Pond has a good reputation locally as an ice fishing location.

Town and county roads provide mountain biking opportunities. This forest is somewhat unique in that the softwood plantations are fairly young. Regardless, some of the more exotic species of pine (notably Scotch Pine) have begun to fail and convert themselves to native hardwood stands.
