April 8, 2017 Morning

Good morning! Happy Saturday from the Office. Two weeks to Earth Day. Mostly cloudy and 39 degrees in City of Albany. Breezy, 17 mph breeze from the west-northwest with gusts up to 30 mph. The skies will clear around noontime.

Today will have isolated flurries before noon. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high of 51 degrees at 5pm. Four degrees below normal. Breezy, with a northwest wind 17 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph. A year ago, we had rain, snow and a high of 47 degrees. The record high of 88 was set in 1929. 4.5 inches of snow fell back in 1907. I’m not missing too much being stuck at work, I guess.

Hopefully I will be able to get home at least before darkness. Going on 30 hours in the office, although I did take a nap under my desk for a while. I didn’t buy a lot of groceries last weekend, so I am pretty much out of “easy to reheat” food to make up at home, so I might stop and pick up something up, or maybe I’ll just figure out something after I get some time sleeping at home.

The sun will set at 7:29 pm with dusk around 7:58 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 13 hours and 6 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 50 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low of 32 degrees at 5am. Three degrees below normal. West wind 8 to 13 mph becoming light after midnight. In 2016, it got down to 27 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. The record low of 16 occurred back in 1977.

And tomorrow will be very nice. Sunny, with a high near 66. West wind 3 to 5 mph. I’m hoping to work on my truck, running the wires and get out hiking for a bit. Even nicer come Monday or Tuesday, but I expect to work both days. But then maybe I’ll get down to the park, especially if it get nicer out.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Earth Day when the sun will be setting at 7:45 pm with dusk at 8:15 pm. On that day in 2016, we had rain and temperatures between 76 and 58 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 61 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1985.
