January 11, 2017 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? I don’t know, you better ask President elect Donald John Trump.Β That’s his legal name. Nine days until Inauguration Day. I’m sure he’d approve of Hump Day. Lots of golden sun showering down on the land with temperatures around 40 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 11 mph. I could say everything is falling apart in our countryβ€”but after all its pretty nice morning that will be followed by a nice day. Do watch out for the ice on the sidewalks and parking lots.

Such a nice morning, I dropped off my jacket and blazer at the dry cleaner this morning and walked down a few blocks and caught the bus as the stop closest to the city. A few slick spots. I was going to get a haircut to cut off the gray but I decided against that.

Today will be mostly sunny, with a high of 49 degrees at 2pm. 19 degrees above normal. South wind 9 to 11 mph. You don’t have many nice days like this in mid January. A year ago, we had snow and a high of 37 degrees. The record high of 57 was set in 1975. 8 inches of snow fell back in 1922.

The sun will set at 4:43 pm with dusk around 5:15 pm, which is 1 minutes and 8 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 9 hours and 19 minutes of daylight, an increase of one minute and 29 seconds over yesterday. Evenings are getting steadily longer but no so much for the morning.

Tonight will rain likely, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 37 degrees at 8pm. 23 degrees above normal. Tailgate drinking weather? I don’t have any beer at home, so I guess I’ll be enjoying a cold glass of milk. South wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 18 degrees with periods of snow. The record low of -26 occurred back in 1968.

As previously noted, there are 7 weeks until March 1st when the sun will be setting at 5:46 pm with dusk at 6:14 pm. On that day in 2016, we had rain and temperatures between 38 and 21 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 39 degrees. We hit a record high of 61 back in 1991.
