November 4, 2016 evening

Good evening! Partly clear and 35 degrees in North Syracuse. There is a west breeze at 6 mph. A week from now, assuming all works out well, I’ll be out in the wilderness camping.

More clouds push in this evening with near constant temperatures. Five degrees above normal. Southwest wind around 7 mph. One year ago, we had a partly cloudy evening  with a low around 46. The record low of 17 occurred back in 1951.

Waxing Crescent Moon tonight with 34% illuminated. The moon will set around 12:01 am. The First Quarter Moon is on Sunday night with mostly clear skies expected. The Full β€œBeaver” Moon is a week from Sunday night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers before 11am. Otherwise, pretty cloudy with a high of 52 degrees at 2pm. One degree above normal. Seems cool but we are pushing the second week of November. Maximum dew point of 44 at 2pm. West wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Last year, partly cloudy with a high around 72. The record high of 75 was set in 1994. There was 3 inches of snow back in 1894. The sun will rise at 7:44 am with the first light at 7:15 am, which is 1 minutes and 17 seconds later then yesterday.

Looking ahead, Veterans Day is in 1 week and Buy Nothing Day / Black Friday is in 3 weeks. The later is when I think I’ll replace my dead laptop.

There are 3 days and 19 minutes until the polls close in NY State on Election Day. I’m glad it will come to an conclusion but I do think there should be a more honest discussion of the size and role of the government in our lives.

One thing you never hear from the presidential candidates, is how they plan to shrink government. We have too many laws and a government that is too complex for anyone’s good. We need a government that does a few things well and a lot less things. Our next president should make repealing, not creating laws his top priority. While Jill Stein hasn’t made repealing laws a top priority, I think she will bring Americans together and listen to all our concerns.

November 4, 2016 morning

Dark out there on our second to last day before the end of Daylight Savings Time. Today in Syracuse dawn is at 7:13 AM with sunrise at 7:44. Not as late as Buffalo at 7:54 AM but still pretty late.

At sunrise look for cloudy skies with some sun possibly peaking through and a chilly start around 43. Gradual clearing with a high reaching only 45, with a breeze all day long.
