October 29, 2016 10 PM Update

Good evening! Cloudy and 53 degrees in North Syracuse. There is a west breeze at 11 mph. The dew point is 52 degrees. The skies will clear Monday around 11 am.

Finally got the hard drive enclosure and my hard drive from my dead laptop up and running, so I have my files back. That makes me happy. I had a fear I could have lost many or most of them when the power supply blew out on the laptop. Saw a nice ThinkPad at Office Max that I’m researching as a replacement laptop. I saw an alternative model from Staples with an SSD drive and a high resolution 1920×1080 built in touch screen.  that would be perfect for map making. At $620, a little more than budgeted for but I wouldn’t have to upgrade the Hard Drive to SSD right away as it comes with it. I got to research the reviews and Linux compatibility further before I make the jump. Maybe next week though as it would be a great tool for map making.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers before 11pm. Otherwise mostly cloudy and very mild.  Low of 48 degrees at 5am. 11 degrees above normal. West wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. One year ago, partly cloudy with a low around 37. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1969.

Waning Crescent Moon tonight with 3% illuminated. The moon will rise around 6:08 am. The New Moon will be tomorrow with chance of showers then mostly cloudy skies expected. The Full β€œBeaver” Moon is on Sunday, December 4th.

Tomorrow will have rain likely, mainly between noon and 3pm. Otherwise cloudy and cool. High of 49 degrees at 1pm. Five degrees below normal. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Last year, partly cloudy with a high around 54. The record high of 80 was set in 1946. There was 0.1 inches of snow back in 1925.

In four weeks on November 26 the sun will be setting at 4:32 pm (Standard Time), which is 1 hour and 26 minutes earlier then tonight. That is Black Friday aka Buy Nothing Day. The average high is 44 degrees, and the record for that date is 67 degrees was set back in 1979.

October 29, 2016 Morning

Good afternoon! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! Some drizzle is coming down but at least it’s warmer at 52 degrees in North Syracuse. There is a south breeze at 10 mph. Three months out from my 34th Birthday. So wish me a Happy Birthday.

Another damp and wet Saturday. This weekend isn’t going to be a great one, but we will get up to 60 degrees. Cooler then last year, but still above normal. When I was in Price Chopper this morning buying more fruit and milk for breakfast, it started to pour. It was so loud on the roof of the grocery store. Milk is super cheap these days, when you can buy a gallon for $2. Blueberries were also on sale.

Today will have showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then scattered showers and thunderstorms between noon and 2pm, then scattered showers after 2pm. High of 60 degrees at 5pm. Five degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 51 at 6pm. Southwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Last year, mostly cloudy with a high around 70. The record high of 77 was set in 1946. Tonight will be scattered showers, mainly before 10pm. Low of 51 degrees at 5am. 11 degrees above normal. West wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. One year ago, partly cloudy with a low around 37. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1969.

There are 3 weeks until Regular Season Opens in Southern Zone when the sun will be setting at 4:36 pm with dusk at 5:07 pm (Standard Time). The average high temperature is 47 degrees, with a record high of 71 in 1921.
