Good evening! Heavy rain and 57 degrees in Cicero, NY. There is a east breeze at 6 mph. The dew point is 56 degrees. Rain continues through the weekend but it will turn cold, especially come Sunday. But no snow in the greater Syracuse area. The skies will clear Sunday around 3 am.

Driving back from downtown the rain was really pouring. I had to back it down to 45 or 50 MPH on I-81 because I was worried about hydroplaning on the road, because in parts the of the road there was a good inch of water accumulating on the road surface. The windshield wipers were struggling to keep up with the weather.

Tonight will have more rain and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 52 at 4am. 14 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 56 at 10pm. East wind 6 to 8 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible. The record low of 17 occurred back in 1972.

The rain will taper off somewhat in early morning but then more heavy rain come the afternoon. We are looking at a high of 55 degrees at 12pm. Three degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 52 at 6am. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible. The record high of 81 was set in 1979.

A fairly quiet day. Tomorrow is Friday. The weekend won’t be perfect, but It should be nicer for the weekend. Rain on Saturday and cool all weekend. Saturday, rain. High near 46. West wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Hold on to the steering wheel for dear life, and watch for down trees. At least we won’t get  snow they are expected to get up north. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Sunday looks a bit better, but we still have a chance isolated showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Maximum dew point of 42 at 8pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 57 degrees.

In four weeks on November 17 the sun will be setting at 4:37 pm (Standard Time), which is 1 hour and 34 minutes earlier then tonight. The average high is 47 degrees, and the record for that date is 73 degrees was set back in 1928. Summer is definitely over come another four weeks, and the leaves will all be turned and the night getting pretty long. But summer will come back around the calendar again — eventually.

There are 17 days, 23 hours and 19 minutes until the polls close in NY State on Election Day.

Google Maps: Wildlife Management Units (WMUs)

Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) are the geographical units DEC uses to set hunting and trapping seasons in New York State. This map is similar to the online one on the DEC website, however I added random colors to make the different WMUs stand out better.

Hints: Trying to figure out a particular location and what WMU it is located within? Try the search box on the top. Click on the map to see the WMU.
