September 6, 2016 10 PM Update

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 73 degrees in Albany, NY. Calm wind. The dew point is 65 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 8 am for quite warm September day.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 66 degrees at 5am. 11 degrees above normal. A very warm night for September and even a mid summer night. But reasonably humid. Maximum dew point of 65 at 10pm. Light north wind. The record low of 36 occurred back in 1962. Back when the Knickerbockers were playing back at the Twist Palace, soon to be demolished as part of the South Maul Arterial.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny, with a high of 85 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees above normal. Hazy and hot humid weather for many kids first day of school. Maximum dew point of 68 at 4pm. Kind of yucky humidity. But with a breeze. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. The record high of 96 was set in 1945. The sun will rise at 6:26 am with the first light at 5:58 am, which is 1 minutes and 4 seconds later then yesterday.

Spent a bunch of time cleaning and packing this evening.  I’m kind of glad to be heading out on the road again and have a chance to explore another city. The Albany routine has gotten tiresome, especially with all the now returning school traffic. Got my refrigerator cleaned up and most of my camping gear put away. Started to dig out my fall clothes.

I’m running low on maps. I have a few more made up, but soon I’ll just have to feature some old ones or fire up QGIS. There are lots of dated maps on my blog that are due for a good update. I’ll have to make some up later in the week.

Looking ahead, Last Recorded Day Above in 90 in Albany is in 1 month, Sunrise After 7 AM in Albnay is in 8 weeks, Daylight Savings Time Ends is in 2 months, Election Day is in 9 weeks and Square Dance Day is in 12 weeks. Don’t be to much of a square. That’s my final thought for September 6,  2016.

September 6, 2016 Evening

At sunset, look for mostly cloudy conditions and 78 degrees. The dew point will be 65 degrees. Somewhat muggy.  There will be a east breeze at 8 mph.

The sun will set at 7:19 pm with dusk around 7:47 pm, which is 1 minutes and 44 seconds earlier than yesterday.

Waxing Crescent Moon tonight with 36% illuminated. The moon will set around 12:31 am. The First Quarter Moon is on Friday with partly cloudy skies expected. The Full β€œCorn” Moon is on Friday, September 16th at 7:05 pm.

Express bus home was running a bit late. Hopefully it won’t be delayed too much in the coming days but it probably will with school returning session. Traffic is pretty backed up on the old 787. Just the usual half mile delays from the end of the expressway. As I say, at least I’m not driving. I know a lot of the drivers take McCarty Hill to avoid the traffic, but not the current one. It really is a slog tonight.

I guess I really don’t care that much about the delays. I’m going to be leaving the Albany-area for the next few weeks soon, that is once I get packed. So be it. I look forward to the adventures of fall and some fun new trips come November.

I’ve uploaded a bunch of new videos onto YouTube that I’ll be featuring in the coming weeks. Interesting to learn about the video medium, although one thing I’ve learned about video is the files are enormous and take a long while to upload.  Also started uploading some pictures from the weekend.

Dashboard cameras are really neat. I’m surprised that you don’t see them on more cars. They take such beautiful pictures and can be quite stealthy if you set them up appropriately. Not only does it keep a log of my drives and provide scenic footage, it also keeps a quiet watch over my truck when parked. So far I’m very happy with it, especially with the latest firmware update that gives me full control over the labels including speed of the vehicle in miles per hour. I don’t speed and I like having a record of such things. I disable audio for scenic trips but otherwise leave it on, so I have a record of any conversations in case I get pulled over for something. You can also disable all indicator lights on it, so it’s impossible to know if it’s switched on or off. I leave it set to record based on motion detection, even when parked, and I don’t worry about battery use, as it runs on the accessory battery. Maybe a bit paranoid but I like the dual purpose nature of it.

Finally made it past traffic. I guess it wasn’t that bad, and I’ll get used to it. I’m just tired after the long weekend and I really didn’t get enough sleep. And I’ve been putting in a lot of long hours in at work.  Gosh traffic was bad.
