Good evening! Mostly clear and 65 degrees in Delmar. There is a north breeze at 6 mph. The dew point is 59 degrees. Not a half bad evening for Labor Day.

Had steak at my parent’s house for Labor Day. Enjoyed swimming at Mine Kill State Park and hiking the trails. A beautiful day, caught some great footage on my new dashboard camera. I will upload tomorrow to YouTube when I get somewhere I have enough bandwidth. I did the recommended firmware update on the camera and got several improved features including recording of your speed in miles per hour. Besides the pictures I took at camp, I’ve also started to do some videos and will post some time in the next few days.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low of 59 degrees at 5am. Four degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 59 at 11pm. North wind around 6 mph. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1938. Waxing Crescent Moon tonight with 30% illuminated. The moon will set around 11:52 pm. The First Quarter Moon is on Friday at 11:49 am with chance of t-storms expected. The Full “Corn” Moon is on Friday, September 16th at 7:05 pm.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny, and a bit warm with a high of 80 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 64 at 5pm. North wind 7 to 9 mph. The record high of 91 was set in 1983. The sun will rise at 6:26 am with the first light at 5:58 am, which is 1 minutes and 4 seconds later then yesterday.

Looking ahead, Columbus Day is in 5 weeks, Halloween is in 8 weeks, Last Day with 10 Hours of Daylight in Albany is in 9 weeks and Beaver Moon is in 10 weeks.

Good afternoon! Mostly sunny and 81 degrees in North Blenheim at the Mine Kill State Park. There is a north-northeast breeze at 7 mph. The dew point is 57 degrees. The air is warm and the sun is nice but the Mine Kill State Park pool is only 71 degrees. Still feels much warmer than yesterday, especially with the warmer air temperature. The pool’s 2016 season ends today at 6 pm. Earlier did some hiking on some of the trails in the state park and Power Authority visitors center. Going to Shaul’s later.

For the rest of Labor Day, it will be sunny, with a high of 82 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees above normal. The pool will remain frigid. Maximum dew point of 57 at 2pm. Northeast wind 7 to 10 mph. The record high of 91 was set in 1973.

The sun will set at 7:22 pm with dusk around 7:51 pm, which is 1 minutes and 44 seconds earlier than yesterday. Waxing Crescent Moon tonight with 30% illuminated. The moon will set around 11:53 pm. The First Quarter Moon is on Friday at 11:49 am with partly cloudy expected. The Full “Corn” Moon is on Friday, September 16th at 7:05 pm.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low of 56 degrees at 5am. One degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 55 at 6pm. Northeast wind around 7 mph. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1938.

Good morning! Happy Labor Day. Today is the unofficial end of summer with most of the state beaches and pools that remain open but still cool. Hot weather expected for the second half of the week. Right now it’s sunny and 72 degrees in Gilboa at the Leonard Hill State Forest. There is a north breeze at 5 mph. The dew point is 53 degrees. Nice day but some haze looking out towards Utsaythana from Leonard Hill.

Camp is all taken down and the site restored to its orginal meadow like conditions to the greatest extent possible. One thing about back country camping is something the ground gets trampled but I tried to restore the leaves and scattered wood across the site. From a sustainability perspective, it probably is better to stay at an existing site but none existed in the area I camped. Still you’d have to look hard to know where I camped in the woods. Come October and the leaves falling all traces will likely be gone.

Today will be sunny, with a high of 78 degrees at 3pm. Somewhat warmer weather the next yesterday. Hopefully not a cold at the pool.  Two degrees above normal. Low humidity. Maximum dew point of 55 at 2pm. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. The record high of 91 was set in 1973. The sun will set at 7:22 pm with dusk around 7:51 pm, which is 1 minute and 44 seconds earlier than yesterday. Today will have 12 hours and 55 minutes of daylight, a decrease of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low of 56 degrees at 5am. One degree above normal. Maximum dew point of 55 at 6pm. Northeast wind around 7 mph. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1938.

Five weeks until  Columbus Day when the sun will be setting at 6:21 pm with dusk at 6:49 pm. The average high temperature is 62 degrees, with a record high of 89 in 1939.
