Dashboard Cameras

I’ve been thinking about getting a dashboard camera for my truck again. Not so much in case of a crash but for capturing the scenery along the road. They are certainly pretty inexpensive these days for a pretty high quality video.

I was thinking I could capture things like when I visit a National Park or Forest or pass a scenic vista along the road. There are so many places that would be great for a picture, but no place to stop along narrow roads with no breakdown lane.Β It would be fun to capture parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway should I go later this year.Β I wasn’t sure about the quality of pictures, but from what I’ve seen from Youtube, I’m impressed even with the budget cameras.

And it would give peace of mind if I ever got in a crash as I’d have a record of what really happened or be able to record a near misses. If I got pulled over, I would also have a recording of what was said to law enforcement.

The picture quality of even the most basic dashboard cameras is really quite impressive I have to say. I think I could make some nice YouTube videos from them. That said, I want to make sure I get a quality model that is reliable. I don’t want to waste my money. My spending limit is around $100 but there are a lot of interesting options out there. I don’t really need advanced options like GPS or a G-Force sensor, as you can look at the video to know where on the road you are. I have a spare 12 volt outlet from the accessory Β battery that could power it, including when I’m parked and running into the store.

Well it’s something for me to consider further.Β

August 23, 2016 Evening

Good evening! How was your day? Right now, it’sΒ clear and 73 degrees in Albany, NY. There is a west-southwest breeze at 6 mph. The dew point is 55 degrees. Going to be a great night for looking at the stars, assuming you wear a long sleeved shirt.

Probably after the evening walk, I’ll sit out back and enjoy a cold drink or two. Tomorrow is Wednesday. Eleven weeks from now Election Day, and two months we will have our first sunset of the autumn season before 6 pm.

August 23, 2016 Afternoon

The sun will set at 7:42 pm with dusk around 8:12 pm, which is 1 minutes and 37 seconds earlier than yesterday.Β At sunset tonight, look for 70 degrees with a dew point climbing slightly to around 56. But still quite comfortable under clear skies.

Should be a great evening for fishing,Β barbecues, or whatever summer activity your doing.

Defensive Driving

I realized I never got my defensive driving certificate from the class I took on February 19th. I called up the instructor, and she said I would have it in a 3-5 days.Β I should have called sooner, but now I have pay the bill for my insurance at the end of next month.
