August 16, 2016 10 PM Update

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 79 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 13 mph. The dew point is 72 degrees. It’s pretty sticky but with the breeze is tolerable. The skies will clear tomorrow around 11 am.

Tonight will have showers and thunderstorms likely before 2am, then a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 73 degrees at 6am. 13 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 72 at 10pm. Southwest wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. The record low of 40 occurred back in 1979.

Back from my evening walk. Not so hot this evening compared to the weekend. Earlier in the evening, went to the library. Uploaded some Google Maps but it turned out the code was broken and the color ramp came out all messed up up. Cooked up some chicken strips in the oven, which I didn’t realize until yesterday weren’t pre-cooked. But it wasn’t too hot and it came out fine.

Gotten to the point where the sun is setting too early to go to the park after work, so now I usually end up going to the library for Wifi. I like the park better but lately it seems like it’s pitch black at the park earlier. I don’t feel safe walking home after dark on the main road after dark without sidewalks.

Almost the full moon tonight. Thunderstorms are coming through later but for now it’s mostly cloudy with the moonlight peaking through the clouds with stars in a few places.

Enjoying a Corona or two out back on the tailgate of my truck. The crickets are loud this evening. The bed is all lit up by the lights. Been backing in my truck at home so I can use the tailgate as a table as I sit out back. Works well.

Getting away from the longer posts. Expect shorter more creative blog posts in the future.

Sunrise at 6:03 am tomorrow. Cloudy tomorrow morning but clearing later in the afternoon. Seasonable weather tomorrow, high around 83 degrees.

August 16, 2016 8 PM Update

If you haven’t noticed it tonight,Β the evenings are rapidly getting shorter and the temperatures will quickly be dropping as fall approaches…

In four weeks on September 13 the sun will be setting at 7:07 pm, which is 47 minutes earlier then tonight. The average high is 73 degrees, and the record for that date is 92 degrees was set back in 1948.

Today in 1916, the Migratory Bird Treaty between Canada and the United States signed. It was designed to save Migratory Birds by giving them international protection for the first time by placing limits on hunting and other means of taking.

Back in 1989, a solar flare from the Sun creates a geomagnetic storm that affects micro chips in some parts of the world, leading to a halt of all trading on Toronto’s stock market.

Also, in 1993, Debian Linux is announced, it would become the basis of many forms of Linux like Ubuntu Linux, which is currently what I run on my laptop.

And in 1966, the House Un-American Activities Committee begins investigations of Americans who have aided the Viet Cong. The committee intends to introduce legislation making these activities illegal. Anti-war demonstrators disrupt the meeting and 50 people are arrested.

August 16, 2016 5 PM Update

The weekend forecast continues to look plenty warm and sunny. Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Maximum dew point of 67 at 5pm. Sunday, a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 68 at 10am. Typical average high for the weekend is 80 degrees.

Definitely looks like Potholers weather to me. Hot and humid. But sunny.

I know I’m looking forward to the nice weekend. Last weekend’s weather certainly was kind of a bummer. Those summer weekends won’t last that much longer.

August 16, 2016 Evening
