May 23, 2016 Evening

Today had some pretty nice weather. Still around 78 degrees under mostly clear skies as we head into the 8 o’clock hour. Going to to be a mild evening and night with a low around 54. After a very cold spring, suddenly it’s summer.

Despite the high mercury readings, I don’t see any oppressive weather in the future, although Saturday will have dew points heading into the low 60s. With the warm conditions this weekend and a higher dew point, looking at an increasing chance of thunderstorms. That said, I think it will be warm and sunny Memorial Day Weekend.

It looks like there is a car crash on Delaware Avenue near the fire house but traffic continues to be moving well.

For some reason my Jam 2 Bluetooth speaker I use for camp music and on my night stand stopped working this morning. Fortunately I was able to reset it. I am glad about that. I use that little speaker non stop.

May 23, 2016 Afternoon

Have you gotten a chance to get outside?Β The weather is amazing this afternoon. 75 degrees with some fair weather clouds. You won’t work up much of a sweat though, as there is a nice 10 mile per hour breeze, with a dew point of 52.

May 23, 2016 Morning

I think the synchronizer is kind of worn off as we shift down into the first gear of the week. 64 degrees and beautiful on this 23rd day of the month of May in 2016. Heading up to 79 degrees later. With a dew point maxing out around 50 degrees and mostly sunny skies predicted, it’s going to be a pretty amazing day.

You might say that going today is going to work inside today is cruel and unusual punishment. Why couldn’t we have had this weather over the weekend? That said, it’s only going to get warmer as the unofficial start of summer is kicked off with the Memorial Day Weekend. Hazy, hot and humid conditions expected this upcoming long weekend. That means thunderstorms in the afternoons.

Four weeks from now will be the official start of the summer. Something to definitely look forward to. But in the meantime, I’m focused on surviving the work week in favor of the long weekend. I just hope that the weekend forecast holds true better than last week.

I am pretty sure I’m off to Branch Pond Road or somewhere nearby for the Memorial Day Weekend in the Southern Green Mountain National Forest in Vermont. I think I’ll avoid the clusterfuck known as NY 7 aka Hoosick Street by taking NY 2 to Massachusetts and somehow heading north.

I still want to get up to Stewart Landing but I think I will hold off on that until June. Probably camp one night at the drive in sites at Stewart Landing and paddle into a site for the second night. I normally camp up at Powley Place when paddling Canada Lake but it would be nice to be closer to the water. I’m hoping to get a small inexpensive solar spotlight so I can light up the flag when camping lake side.
