March 8, 2016 Night

Good evening! Currently partly clear and 48 degrees with calm wind. It has cleared out a bit from earlier this evening and now you can see the stars pretty good. Depending on which model you look at the temperature will drop 1-3 degrees by morning with skies that get progressively clearer as we head towards day break.

Neighbors have a campfire going out back. I thought about heading out back but I’m tired and I want to get to bed by 10. If I went back there I’d probably be out there until after midnight and wake up with a hangover. Not appropriate for a busy day at work tomorrow when I need to get an early start.

Went for my evening walk. It was pretty nice. Opened the windows up for a while and had a beer out back. I turned off the central heat, I don’t envision needing it in the next seven days. It won’t get below freezing or even that cold.

Tomorrow the sun will rise at 6:15 am with the first light at 5:47 am, which is 1 minutes and 42 seconds earlier then today. Should be a good morning to watch the sun rise.

The latest model are calling for partly sunny, with a record breaking high near 70. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph. That’s about 29 degrees above normal. The record high of 68 degrees was set back in 2000.

To put it into perspective, average high in four weeks on Wednesday April 6th is 54 degrees, and the record for that date is 82 degrees was set back in 1928.

I hope you had a good day. Should be a nice night for sleeping
Good night !

March 8, 2016 Evening

Good evening! Currently cloudy and 56 degrees with a calm wind. A bit of a cool down from earlier when it reached 62, but still a mighty nice evening for early March. We are looking at 52 degrees at 10 PM. Not a good night for stars with the clouds but not a bad evening for sitting out and having a cold one.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the evening. That’s about 24 degrees above normal. Pretty warm. Especially compared to the record low of -14 degrees was set back in 1943.

Tonight will have 12 hours and 20 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over last night. The nights are growing steadily shorter.

Tonight we will have a Waning Crescent Moon with 1% illuminated. It will rise at 6:07 am. Basically a new moon for all intents and purposes. Officially though the New Moon is tomorrow. Clouds will block out the stars on both nights.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny, with a high near 69. in other words exceptionally nice but with a spring time fire risk. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph. At least it’s not too dry. That means we will be about 28 degrees above normal and will likely smash the record high of 68 degrees was set back in 2000.

Looking ahead to a pretty nice weekend, Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 59. Saturday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Sunday will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Sunday ain’t perfect but heck that’s the day to head back to the city.

That weekend forecast looks quite nice. I’m thinking of going out to Schoharie County to get out camping if it works with my work schedule. We will see. The forecast could change but truck cap camping would be fun.

It was a long day at work but a lot got done. I actually was glad the bus was running late as I needed to finish up some stuff and didn’t want to have to wait for the 7:30 bus to go home.

One thing I’ve noticed is that the bus time has gotten more accurate in recent weeks as they’ve worked out the kinks. It really is helpful to know when the next bus I’d coming so you can plan accordingly.

I hope your Tuesday is going well. Have a great evening!

March 8, 2016 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Currently it’s partly sunny and 45 degrees with calm wind. There is some blue sky out there, especially to the south. A lot of haze this morning in places though.

Today will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. Light and variable wind. That’s about 16 degrees above normal. The record high of 68 degrees was set back in 2012. I remember that heat wave we had in 2012, although with climate change it seems like March is the month warming up the most important quickly. Not record breaking but we will be heading into that territory tomorrow with highs expected to reach the upper 60s.

Tonight the sun will set at 5:54 pm with darkness around 6:22 pm, which is 1 minutes and 11 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 11 hours and 37 minutes of daylight, an increase of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. South wind 3 to 6 mph. That’s about 23 degrees above normal. Pretty mild for March. Might be good weather for tailgate drinking. The record low of -14 degrees was set back in 1943. Cold weather is still possible this time of year, even if the next few days are expected to be pretty mild. Still negative records are getting less frequent and usually just the single digits as we head towards spring.

There are 1 month, 28 days until Cinco de Mayo when the sun will be setting at 8:01 pm (Daylight Savings Time). The average high temperature for Cinco de Mayo is 66 degrees, with a record high of 91 in 1944. Springtime is nice.

Happy Birthday toΒ Micky Dolnez of The Monkees. He turns a happy 71 today. Then I saw her face, and now I’m a believer.

Today in 1971, PhilipsΒ demonstrates theΒ compact discΒ publicly for the first time. Nowadays CDs seem like a technology relegated to landfills and burn barrels like the 8 tracks, reduced to rubble and smoke. I can’t remember the last time I played music on a CD. Time sure goes past quickly.

On that note, have a great Tuesday. The weekend will be here before you know it. The next stop is mine.
