March 4, 2016 Evening

Good evening! Currently partly clear and 36 degrees with a 8 mph north wind. Not a half bad evening for early March.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 18. North wind 5 to 7 mph. Pretty typical weather. The clear skies will be good for looking at the stars.

Tonight the sun will set at 5:49 pm with darkness around 6:17 pm, which is 1 minutes and 13 seconds later than yesterday. In four weeks on April 1 the sun will be setting at 7:22 pm (Daylight Savings Time), which is 1 hour and 32 minutes later then today.

Tonight we will have a Waning Crescent Moon with 28% illuminated. It will rise at 2:50 am. The New Moon is on Wednesday.

This weekend looks pretty decent. Saturday will have increasing clouds, with a high near 36. North wind around 6 mph. Saturday Night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Light north wind. Sunday will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 42. Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph.

I am thinking toying with theΒ idea of doing some backcountry camping this weekend at a local state forest. I’m a little bit divided on the idea, but it would be nice to spend Saturday night in the wilderness.

Part of the thing is that this time of year, I need a fair bit of gear to stay warm, and I’m not sure if I have enough warm stuff I can get far back in the woods. I guess if there ain’t a lot of snow I could drive back, otherwise I could drag things back on the sled. The low tomorrow is 18 degrees with no wind. Not too bad, but it also means I’d want a lot of sleeping bags and maybe the heater

TGIF. It’s the weekend! Have a great evening!

A review of the record shows that Mussolini, despite his media claims, did not make the trains run on time. The major lines might have run somewhat better, but the minor lines were as delayed as ever under Mussolini.

"Like almost all the supposed achievements of Fascism, the timely trains are a myth, nurtured and propagated by a leader with a journalist's flair for symbolism, verbal trickery and illusion."

Happy 65th Birthday to Governor Rick Perry. Oops. He’s the governor of the great state of Texas. A one time presidential candidate, is best remembered for forgetting the names of the departments he said he wanted to repeal as president.

There are 23 days until Easter when the sun will be setting at 7:16 pm (Daylight Savings Time).

Walked down to the Park and Ride. Not too cold of a morning. I wish we had more sun but all and all, the weather ain’t bad, and it will be progressively nicer as our Friday continues. Gets even nicer for Saturday, a bit sunnier with mostly seasonable temperatures.
