March 2, 2016 Night

Good evening! The temperature has dropped to 22 degrees and mostly clear with a 10 mph northwest wind, with gusts up to 25 mph. The wind chill value is currently 11. Brr! I skipped my evening walk as I didn’t want to deal with the cold. These cold nights won’t last for too much longer, or so I hope.

Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 17. Northwest wind 11 to 14 mph.

Tonight will have 12 hours and 37 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over last night. Tomorrow the sun will rise at 6:24 am with the first light at 5:56 am, which is 1 minutes and 40 seconds earlier then today.

Tonight we will have a Waning Crescent Moon with 42% illuminated. It will rise at 1:09 am. The New Moon is next Wednesday. The stars are pretty clear tonight for sure.

Thursday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 32. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph. That wind while not as cold as today, will still feel pretty biting.

I installed the VLC Player on my laptop, in search of a better player for videos controlled by my remote keyboard. Also made some bug fixes on my blog and tweaked some other code. Made up some more maps too. Walked down to the library so I could use my laptop on the Internet.

I hope you had a good day. Mine was fairly decent. Sleep well!

March 2, 2016 Evening

Good evening on this frigid early March evening. Currently 26 degrees and mostly cloudy with a 23 mph west-northwest wind, with gusts up to 33 mph. The cops should sit out there and give God a speeding ticket for the wind in the city. Plugging the data into the calculator gives us a wind chill value of 11.

The sun has a few more minutes until it sets at 5:47 pm with darkness around 6:15 pm, which is 1 minutes and 13 seconds later than yesterday. In four weeks on March 30 the sun will be setting at 7:19 pm (Daylight Savings Time), which is 1 hour and 32 minutes later then today.

Going to be a frigid evening. Partly cloudy, with a low around 17. Northwest wind 11 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Those are conditions are going to make for unpleasant wind chills, especially for early March as the old lion roars. Tomorrow continues the cold wind chills. It will be mostly sunny, with a high near 32. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph.

Tonight we will have a Waning Crescent Moon with 42% illuminated. It will rise at 1:09 am. The New Moon is next Wednesday. Get up early tomorrow with a warm coat if you want to experience it.

The weekend looks pleasant but I’m not sure if I’m going to head out of town. Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 38. Saturday Night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. Sunday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 43. Sunday Night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 27.

I hope your Wednesday is going well. Have a great evening! Stay warm.

March 2, 2016 Morning

Good morning on this Hump Day, the first one of March. There is a snow squall passing through but overall it’s 32 degrees with temperatures dropping. Blustery morning, the airport is reporting 27 mph winds with gusts reaching nearly 50 mph. This makes the wind chill around 18. In like a lion comes March.

After the squall, today will be mostly sunny but windy with temperatures dropping to 16 degrees by later this evening. We have likely reached the high for today.

Tonight the sun will set at 5:47 pm with darkness around 6:15 pm, which is 1 minutes and 13 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 11 hours and 20 minutes of daylight, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Happy Birthday to Ken Salazar, our country’s 50th secretary of the Department of the Interior. He turns 61 years old today. He’s been retired for a few years now, leaving after the first Obama administration.

Last night didn’t do all that much, instead mostly just staying home, looking at PBS’ special on Man Space, an early mission to space and making up some more maps.
