Good evening. Currently mostly cloudy and fairly breezy and 39 degrees in Delmar. At times though you can see the stars, although maybe the have been crowded out by the clouds.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. West wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. The wind and dampness will make it feel chilly.

It’s pretty dark our there.  Waxing crescent moon has already set. Mornings also continue to be fairly dark, although slowly but surely the sun rise is happening earlier. Tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 7:24 am with first light at 6:52 am, which is one minute and 19 seconds earlier then today. Still going to need that alarm clock come morning.

Went out to Mom and Dad’s for Sunday dinner. Mom still makes good lasagna. Certainly much better than I could ever make and certainly better than any restaurant. She’s a pretty amazing cook. I made chocolate brownies topped with M&Ms. I also did my wash out there. Nice fresh sheets in bed. Got home went for my evening walk. Nice evening for a walk. Folded my clothes, made my bed. Took a sleeping pill and now I’m in bed. Pretty tired now.

I hope you had a good weekend. Kind of went by quickly, but so be it. Sleep well!

The dammed up part of the Raquette River, off of NY Route 56 north of Sevey, has public access, boat launch and campsites at the Carry Falls-Parmenter Site.

The 3,170 acre Carry Falls Reservoir averages 18 feet deep and has a maximum depth of 50 feet. Its shoreline is almost entirely forested and there are many sandy beaches. A DEC boat ramp and launch area is on the far northwest corner of the reservoir.

Good evening. Currently mostly cloudy and 49 degrees in Westerlo. KInd of a dreary day, although those thunderstorms that came through around 3:30 PM were pretty intense. A pretty sunset and some rainbows came after that, which was nice. I didn’t get any photos of the rainbow but it was pretty driving out to my parents house for Sunday dinner.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. West wind 10 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight we had a very slender waxing crescent moon, which has already set. With the clouds and rain, you didn’t missed much. Heading out in woods on this warm but damp night, you’ll want a flashlight. Monday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 29. West wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Spent some more time cleaning mildew in my apartment but I think I got the last of it cleaned up. Things are starting to look pretty nice and clean in my kitchen. I do need to figure out if I can remove the rust or paint my refigerator, which is pretty darn rusty. Rather not do any more damage to my apartment, which is why I’m tempted to leave it as is.

Continuing to work on mapping and some coding for the blog. I will have some new content to post to the blog later in the week. Have a great evening!

Good morning! Happy Sunday. It is currently a wet start to our morning with times of heavy rain and some fog/mist with temperatures around 39 degrees. Kind of wet out there for sure, I can hear the rain pounding on the roof.

Today will have rain and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 5pm, then a chance of rain and thunderstorms after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 56. Southeast wind 10 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible. So pretty wet.

Sunset will be at 4:41 pm with twilight at 5:13 pm which is one minute and 5 seconds later then yesterday. Before you know it, sunset will be after 5 PM and we’ll have some sun in the evenings.

There are 1 month, 5 days until It’s Presidents Day. It will be here before you know it. I hope to take a long weekend and maybe a few days added on to go winter camping and ice fishing at Balsam Pond in Chenango County. It would be nice to get out of town for a few days.

Been researching making concentric circles and viewshed analysis in QGIS because I want to start making maps that show what one can see from a top of a mountain or firetower. Maps of a region are great but it would be nice to hide or at least mark peaks and lakes that are invisible to the viewer. Fortunately, they make QGIS plug-ins that make such things easy to do. I got to get down to the library to download those plug-ins at noontime today.
