December 28, 2015 evening

Good evening. 24 degrees and the snow has started. Snow before 5am, then snow and sleet. Light and variable wind becoming southeast 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. Then in the morning… Snow and sleet before 10am, then rain between 10am and 1pm, then drizzle likely after 1pm. High near 38. Southeast wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible. Most of the snow and ice will probably melt to a slushy mess by evening. The Adirondacks will get more snow.

Tomorrow morning may be a messy commute or it might be just rain. A lot depends on timing. My guess is it won’t be a big deal, but I could be wrong. The weekend looks good, although maybe a bit cloudy with typical temperatures for early January.

I’m still not feeling really good and everything I did today was a minor cluster but I survived my Monday and will be back at work tomorrow if all goes well. Coughing more in my apartment but it may be just because I’m lying in bed and not the mold I’ve mostly cleaned up. Going to get a good night’s sleep and see how I feel in the morning. They are really short staffed at work, so I will try to get in if possible tomorrow.


Lots of close calls today but nothing really bad happen. Just lots of stuff to make me cranky. But I survived. Tomorrow is Tuesday and New Years will be upon us shortly. I am looking forward to welcoming New Years in the wilderness if all goes well.

Complete Haze

Why I’m so cranky tonight …

1) I am in a complete haze from my cold. I’m not coughing much now, but I almost feel drunk, even though I haven’t had any alcohol or cold medicine since last night. Probably a sinus infection, in part brought on by the mold box I live in the city.

2) Decided to leave the second battery connected for a short trip to the store with my headlights on, and almost got stranded at the store. Barely got it started. It was low. The second time I left the second battery off, and it started up fine. But I was a little panicked that I might not make it home tonight.

3) Almost got into a head-end crash with a car at a traffic light turning left that was slowing to turn left and had it’s signal on but decided at the last minute to go straight at the Four Corners. It was so close — there was smoke from tires from three different cars panic braking in the intersection.

4) Blew past a trooper in a school zone, but he got the guy a few cars in front of me. Apparently, despite being no school, they’re enforcing it today. I didn’t have Waze open, so I didn’t have my actual speed up on the screen. My speedometer is off from lift kit, and I probably wasn’t looking at it either, so I have no idea on my actual speed. I usually don’t drive this way, but I was heading over to the lbirary.

5) StraightTalk has $100 off through tonight (last night, got a mailing on it on Christmas Eve, ran through 12/28) on their year plan. I tried to order it. They put two temporary authorizations for $488 each on my card, but neither time did the transaction process. They said that my card won’t ultimately be charged. But I also won’t be able to get the discount either.
