October 30, 2015 night

Good evening. Currently 43 degrees and clear with a breeze this evening. So far this evening the moon hasn’t risen but it’s expected to rise shortly. Tomorrow will be sunny and about 53 and warmer for next week. Wednesday may hit seventy! Mostly warm and sunny all next week.

So my bags are packed and I’m mostly ready to head down to NY City for the weekend. My second time there. No, I don’t like going there, but I like getting paid so I can buy beer, ammo, and gasoline. Stocked up on snacks so I can avoid eating out as much as possible when down there. It will be a not fun weekend but next weekend I’ll be in the Adirondacks and it will just be a memory.

Still waiting for Cabela’s to ship the refurbished Mr. Heater Big Buddy propane heater and accessories I ordered from them. I have asked FedEx to hold the package for pick-up in case it arrives when I’m traveling for work. On chilly mornings during hunting season, I look forward to having up to 18,000 BTUs of heat blasted in my face without struggling to get a fire started. It will make camping during hunting season a lot more fun.

Long day tomorrow, 5 AM comes early. But it’s all just part of the game.  Money buys toys and road trips, it keeps me moving on. It gives me the ability to do and see so many things that few are fortunate to experience. I guess they call it the good life.

October 30, 2015 afternoon

Good afternoon. Currently 52 degrees with a breeze and sunny. A bit cool with   the breeze. Sunset 5:52 PM. Clear skies tonight with the moon rising around 9 PM. Around that time, look for 41 degrees.

Traffic is grinding along on 787. Things are pretty congested for a Friday at 4  PM. But at least I’ll be home an hour earlier than otherwise. The bus is super hot with the heat cranked to the point that it is rather uncomfortable. It won’t be that long until I’m home.

Left a bit early from work for the trip down to NY City. I have to run down to the laundromat and grocery store. Then I have to pack. At least it’s not as much stuff as I would need for a camping trip.

October 30, 2015 update

Now that the sun has come up, it’s going to be a nice weekend, although I will be in NY City again for work. Currently 50 degrees with a breeze – only looking for a high around 54 today.

The following weekend I will be either doing my North Country trip or possibly a local trip plus packing for the North Country. It all depends on the weather as I don’t want to camp in November either in the rain or snow.

Assuming that we are snow free in late November I’m increasingly thinking about going up to the Green National Forest but I guess such weather becomes increasingly unlikely. Otherwise there is always Route 8 in the Adirondacks.

Fall colors are starting to fade in the city and certainly are mostly gone from the mountains. Sunday is November and Daylight Savings Time concludes. It sure will be nice to have additional sunlight in the morning and not be totally getting up in the pitch black. I always have trouble getting going this time of year.
