September 15, 2015 evening

Good evening. 57 degrees on this starry Tuesday evening as we head into the 11 o’clock hour. The low humidity and new moon moon means there is a billion stars up above. For tonight we are looking at a low around 50 degrees or so by daybreak. Sunrise tomorrow is at 6:34 AM and if you’re up early you will be able to see Venus.

The past few days I’ve been driving out to my parents house to do chores and let the dogs out. Tonight with the pleasant conditions I decided to drive back to the campsite in the back field along the Hannacroix Creek. I hung up the flag and a few lights, and started a small fire and hung out with the dogs out back listening to music until a little after the 10 o’clock hour. One of the dogs wandered back to the house and howled until I walked back to the house and let him back in. Now the dogs are back to the house and I’m getting ready for bed on a bed sprayed with line-x on this beautiful evening. A nice evening for sure. Mom and Dad are back from their vacation tomorrow, which is fine because I have the Save the Pine Bush Dinner tomorrow night.

Tomorrow isn’t as much of a rush, because I just have to be to the doctor’s appointment at 9:30 for hopefully my final checkup for the sprained ankle. It’s not perfect but has gotten largely better and I’m feeling a lot better. Not totally stable in the rough country but I’m getting around pretty well walking around town. Hopefully the doctor will let me go on living my life going forward without restriction. I really hate dealing with doctors. I got a bill from one of the doctors today that says I owe another $20. I think I already paid it but who knows. I sent in another check and I figured they’ll probably end up sending another check for overpayment. Doctors always push expensive medical equipment on you and hand out services like they are free but totally hold you in the dark. The whole American medical system is a clusterfuck.

Good night. Sleep well. Might be a bit chilly by morning but at least easy sleeping conditions…

September 15, 2015 afternoon

Good afternoon. Currently 82 degrees with a pleasant breeze. Not a cloud in the sky. Another clear night should mean pleasant conditions for viewing the stars on this moonless night. Sunset at 7:05 PM and twilight at 7:33 PM.

No surprise here, but 787 is a complete jam tonight. We are stopped on the Madison Ave ramp. The right lane Thruway Exit only plus school traffic makes 787 awful. Moreover, a crash at South Swan and Washington a little after 4 PM has made the bus run about 10 minutes late.  You can’t win with traffic but at least you can let the professionals drive.

September 15, 2015 update

As we head into the 9 o’clock hour we are at 56. Cool start to what is certain to be a pleasant day. Decided to go for the long sleeve look today.

Halfway through September, by now the Adirondacks in higher elevation should be turning color. I will start posting some fall pictures from previous years. The cooler nights of recent have started to give the trees locally a hint of color.

Requested the election district shapefile from Albany County as I am hoping to make some interesting Google Maps from the recent primary results. I just sent them an email but if I don’t hear back in a couple of days, I’ll put in a phone call or file a formal FOIL request with the County Clerk. I’m kind of interested in visualizing the County Executive race. I had friends on both sides of the primary.

Tomorrow I go to the doctor to follow up on my sprained ankle. It’s pretty much healed, I haven’t been wearing the sprain boot much lately but I’ve been real careful with uneven surfaces. But most of the strength is back and I’ve increasingly been going for walks around.

I haven’t decided yet if I will take off Thursday and Friday to go up to Lewis County. I checked and the office has sufficient staff so I can get those days off. The weather looks nice but I still have to wonder if it’s too early with my sprained ankle. I feel pretty good but at the same time I have a nagging feeling it’s not as strong as it once was. This is the last weekend I can get out  in September. I’ll make a decision by midday.
