August 25, 2015 evening

Good evening on this Tuesday evening. Despite predictions for clearing this evening it seems like the clouds stuck around. 69 degrees now with moonlight filtering through the breaks in the clouds. My call is clearing later and 62 degrees for a low. Back up to 67 degrees and sunny for the morning commute.

August 25, 2015 morning

Seventy-two and cloudy this morning. It seems like the clouds have stuck upon us longer than expected but there are rays of sun poking out. Maybe we will reach 80 degrees with thunderstorms later. Tommorow will be 78 degrees and partly cloudy.

Midpoint in the day is 12:56 this afternoon and look for sunset around 7:41 pm. Civil twilight around 8:11 pm. My call for this evening is 75 degrees and partly cloudy. Thunderstorms could change this though. Waxing Gibbous Moon around 70% as we head towards Sunday’s full moon.

My ankle is more sore this morning than last night. I probably shouldn’t have tried the stairs without the boot but it’s a pain to have to put it on every time I have to take a piss or get a drink downstairs. I guess it’s just a reminder to let it heal. Oh, well.

Been looking at my next firearm purchase. I got the Dick’s pre-hunting season circular and was looking at the various deals on guns. I want something cheap to shoot for target practice and small game. I saw the “special” on the Savage Arms 11-VT .223 and thought it might be fun — except for the fact it was it’s apparently pretty noisy for target practice and a .223 won’t leave much meat on small game. But the ammo is relatively inexpensive and available. But then I saw the sale price included a $50 mail-in rebate and wasn’t that much of a sale compared to what deals others have gotten, so I said no on that gun. It’s not even that accurate from the reviews I’ve seen.

I told myself if the stock market continues to trend downwards I’ll pick up a deal on some stocksΒ and buy my next firearm sometime later. But today the stock market is back up and I don’t think I will able to buy any index funds at a discount the next few days. Probably the best time to get in the market is when the inevitable late September or early October stock market crashes. Stocks are overvalued these days, and at some point with increasing interest rates and a soft global economy, there is going to be a sustained drop in the market, where it makes sense to plop a couple hundred bucks in the market for long-term investing. But buying guns and shooting them in the woods, preferably at tasty animals is more fun in the mean-time.
