August 24, 2015 evening

74 degrees and kind of muggy and cloudy tonight. So far Delmar has missed the rain but with a storm cell bearing down on the Heldebergs we might catch the next batch of stormy weather. I’d say the best chance for rain is late when the temperature drops to 66 degrees and gets close to the dewpoint. Sunny around 6:15 with clouds creeping in mid-morning. Around 70 for your morning commute.

Pretty quiet day at work and after dinner laid in bed with a book. My ankle is gradually getting better but it’s going to take time. I feel awful missing my evening walk that I’ve done for years, but I understand my ankle has to recover before I can get out and do a lot of walking. Still not the same stuck at home all of the time. Looking at the new bus schedule, I will be able to get down to the library and back in evenings with ease should the weather be inclement. The bus doesn’t stop right in front of the library but it still cuts a 6/10th mile walk to 2/10th mile walk and provides ample choices especially for heading down there. Most nights I will still walk when I’m better to the library as I like the exercise after dinner.

As much as I’d like to go swimming and go camping next week, I know that is a bad idea while I still recover. The following weekend – Labor Day weekend – I’m leaning towards Moose River Plains, mostly spent with a good book at camp. I kind of want to go to the Trappers and Sportsman Expo at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds Labor Day Weekend like I had long planned but with my ankle I don’t know if that is still on the agenda. Piseco-Powley Road or North Lake Reservoir would be a lot closer, but if I only attend one day I could visit on the way north. I will see what I feel like in another week and a half.

August 24, 2015 morning

Good morning, Happy Monday. Currently 74 degrees and partly cloudy. Dewpoint seems stuck at 64 degrees, but clearing is expected later with thunderstorms possible, a high of 83 degrees. The midpoint of the day is 12:57 PM and the sunset is at 7:43 PM with civil twilight around 8:15 PM.

At the 9 o’clock hour this evening look for 78 degrees and pleasant conditions. The dewpoint is expected to drop and with mostly clear skies the moon should be two thirds illuminated until a little before 1 AM. At sunset the moon should be almost due south or a little to the south west.

Off to work on this Monday morning. As I noted earlier one of the route 18 buses is dead on Cherry Ave but that didn’t effect my bus much. I caught the later bus as I missed the earlier bus. That’s fine, because at this point I can’t take an hour lunch out walking with my sprained ankle.

Not sure if I will drive down to the park tonight or head out to Hudson River to do some fishing. The sun is setting earlier every night nowadays. I would like to get out and enjoy the pleasant weather, even if I can’t walk down to the park at this point. By the time I get the boot off my foot, it will be too dark to go to the park in evening after work, so I’ll have to revert going down to the library. But at least while it’s still nice, I can sit outside on the bench and play on my laptop there.

Just another day in suburbia

Just another day in suburbia…

One of the CDTA buses broke down on Cherry Ave. Fortunately, we have two police cars, two CDTA mechanics and a tow truck on the scenes to keep traffic moving smoothly.
