Jury Selection Games
One of the most entertaining parts of voir dire at jury duty is the way some people either try to get on or off the jury. Retires and blue collar union and state folks like jury duty.
While juror numbers are picked at random there many things a potential juror can say to be instantly disqualified and many ways to explain away potential disqualifiers.
My number was never called but I spent two days listening to people’s excuses and figuring out the best disqualifications – usually showing knowledge about the case’s subject matter, personal emotional experiences, and suggesting that your blatantly prejudicial towards one side.
On the other side, there was folks who had a way to explain away anything. Those folks who were determined to get on the jury usually did. Apparently if people express and interest and profess a view that they are non-biased get on, despite mitigating factors.
If you haven’t served on a jury (actually served, not just called) within 6 years , you can request to serve on a jury by calling the commissioner of jurors. Some seniors do this — because if your called in and even if you don’t serve, you can get $40-80 for the time you sit waiting to be interviewed.

Good afternoon. Filtered with clouds, the sun is pushing the mercury up to 62 now with temperatures to reach 64 by later.

Good morning, Happy Tuesday. Hopefully this will be the last day of jury service, as there is only one trial left this week that I could be picked for. Today I don’t have to be in until 9:30, so it’s not a big deal. Hopefully I will get excluded early so I can head back up the street to my normal job.
Hoping to get out of town this weekend and do some camping. It’s not the perfect weekend forecast-wise but the forecast may improve as the week progresses.
Spring weather continues this week. I don’t see a frost in the near future and already the grass is greening up and the trees are budding up in the city.

Good morning, it’s 50 degrees and cloudy in Delmar this morning. Warm enough to have the windows open and hear all the birds singing there songs.
There is a diminishing chance of a shower with gradual clearing today as the front passes off to the east.
Going to get up to around 67 today and 38 tonight. Highs in the mid 60s are expected through the weekend with sun on Wednesday and Thursday with showers from a passing front on Friday.
The best day of the weekend looks to be Sunday at this point with sun around 60. Saturday will be cloudy or mostly cloudy at this point around 65. A lot depends on the timing of the front and is subject to change.
